Chris beard is 5-7 against quad 1 at Ole miss

mike Woodson is 3-11 against quad 1 at IU

that comparison is not a good one

No it is not. Meanwhile our white whale hasn’t won a quad 1 game in over a decade

I was only able to see Cronin’s NET games since 2020-21.  He is 28-32 (compared to Beard’s 20-45).

There are just too many other things at play. A quad 1 game could be playing the best team in the country on the road or the 75th best team in the country on the road. IMO beard is in a different league than Cronin. I’m not impressed with what Cronin has done at UCLA

Chris beard wins everywhere he goes. Mick Cronin has a high conference winning percentage because he coached for years in the American athletic conference

His winning percentage in the Pac 12 and Big 10 is almost an entire 10 bps higher than it was in the Big East (during some pretty good years for the conference IIRC) and AAC. .608 compared to .690. That's basically the difference between winning 6 or 7 games out of 10. Nonsense.

Chris Beard is sub .500 in the SEC at Ole Miss. In the Big 12 at Texas Tech he was 49-40 (.551).

Mark Turgeon should never get that call. Period.

Yeah I was asked about that on another post and said that if he was hired I would be the most ashamed of iu I had ever been.

Then I outlined the coaches that should probably get rhe call before cronin

Michigan losing at home. Cross May off the list.

I predicted that all the close games Michigan has been winning would catch up with them, eventually your luck runs out. Look for them to be about a 6 seed and make an early exit.

Cronin is 7-6 in Q1 games this year and no one wants him anywhere near Bloomington.  Not saying I do however 7 Q1 wins wouldn’t be a bad thing to watch a team I’m invested in have

Cronin is a good coach. I think most are being too picky and that pickiness is his appearance/personality. If he was our coach and won a ton of games people would embrace him

Fact or not a fact? Beard coached less than 1.5 seasons at Texas.

Not getting into why that happened. Just that it occurred.

That was in 2022-2023 and he still drinks. Therefore hardly a slam dunk, guaranteed to restore IU to glory hire.

He couldn't get it done at his alma mater. Why is he going to get it done here? He loves IU so much? Coz of RMK?

The reasons he didn’t “get it done at his Alma mater” had nothing to do with the on court results. He won as many tournament games his first season as IU has in the last 9. His second year he was 7-1 with wins over the #2 and #7 teams before he got fired.

This is certainly a fair take. If the whale decided they wanted to coach college again I am hopeful he can build a staff to help with that transition.  A completely different game than the one he left.  He seems more willing to seek and accept help than woody did though.

Right.. he coached at Texas Tech and Ole Miss not teams that are historically powerhouses in their respective conferences.

compared to UCLA in the pac 12 and UC in the AAC/Big East

Yeah. Will the reasons off the court happen again? That's literally the entire issue with Beard.

Nobody thinks he's not a very good coach. Many here are overestimating him.

And not paying any mind to his downside risk, just the upside.

People can hope for who they want but if they think this admin is hiring him they're setting themselves up to be letdown IMO.
