But was there a portal that opened before those hires?

I haven’t checked, but I’d assume not.

I did a search the Transfer Portal  was opened for the first time in 2018 according to google so only Woodson would have been able to use it .

The Rabjohns of the Michigan message boards says he thinks there is a 99.9% chance that Dusty is back at Michigan next season. I’m guessing he’ll sign that extension soon if he hasn’t already.

If true, that sucks..

Well if it's not Bruce or Beard, let alone Stevens or Billy D, then it's a failure iMO.

Hiring a "potential" coach would be disappointing, considering we just wasted the last four years when we could've done potential then.

I get what you’re saying, but if it’s not a blip on anyone’s radar, why the need for Goodman to tweet anything, smokescreen or not.

Because Goodman is in the IU bubble to a certain extent with his daughter being a student in the Cuban Media Center, etc.

Goodman crosses all the world's on this (college basketball, IU, NBA, Boston). He had some, "here we go again" tweets with the Stevens stuff right when the Woodson announcement was made because he sees the IU fan accounts, so he went and squashed it quickly.

2) Bennett and Wright may actually be in play - thus why we are supposedly building the NBA like infrastructure - they would recruit old school if they choose to (Woodson made that voluntary - sorry couldn't help my self) and Coach. The new NIL junk they hate - they wouldn't have to deal with. They come up with a list of who they want and hand it off to their negotiators. Apparently how Saban ran Alabama long before NIL :)

Indiana should look at what ND is doing in this regard for football and copy it. Basically they have a recruiting guy/asst GM and then a GM for all the NiL and transfer market stuff. They hired a guy from the Detroit lions to run it like a pro shop.  This should free up the coaches to coach more and recruit less.  IU could reach out to Lawrence Frank or somebody and see who the hottest young talent scout is in the NBA.

I do wonder if an IU/UNC/KU level school set that’s type of turnkey operation up, if you couldn’t get a Wright or Bennett type to come back.

Last year, even though the BOT voted to keep Woodson for one more year, was there not anyway for Pam Whitten to step in and overturn that considering SD supposedly was wanting to move on Dusty?

An important difference is that the portal wasn't a free-for-all with set windows at that time. I don't think it really got nuts with free transferring and all that until after Woody was hired.

I believe Duke has this setup.

Man, if we don't get this hire right, everybody involved in last year's decision making should be fired into the sun. (Dolson, BOT, Donors, etc.)

This is really all there is to say about IUBB for the next month or so.

Man, if Dusty DOES sign an extension, Dolson better REALLY have his crap together. I'm personally over "decent" coaches roaming our sideline. I don't expect a championship every year but I DO expect to make the tournament every year. Not 2 out of 3 years...EVERY YEAR!

Mick Cronin... come on down! Lol

Didn’t see this posted yet, sorry if it was. Rick Pitino on what Indiana should do.

What an endorsement. It somehow makes me think more of Beard as a coach and even less of him as a person.

Is that last sentence you or the rabjohns of Michigan saying that?

also, do you recall who here was adamant that May would not discuss an extension until after the season was over?
