General Coach Candidate News

But at some point common sense plays a factor
were told that there is a verbal agreement and Scott was making changes to send Brad a final contract that met all of brads demands and that Brad agreed to sign it. Then Brad just decided to say, “I’ll sign it on Monday”
I don’t KNOW that it didn’t happen that way. But I can pretty damn sure it didn’t because that doesn’t make any sense
And on Monday at midnight if it doesn't happen, you will be able to point to that part and say it is false.

What a wild story. Brad Stevens and Scott Dolson going on vacation together to Albuquerque to visit set pieces from Breaking Bad is so outlandish... that I desperately want it to be true. (Regardless of who our next coach is)

If they are that close, he would probably know if Brad had any interest before he even ask him. Likewise, he would also know if Brad had no interest and he wouldn’t waste his time!

But I won’t because then “insiders” will pivot to something like “Brad had second thoughts over the weekend” or “Tracy vetoed it and made them stay in Boston” or “insert excuse here”

and that’s how this **** always goes and it’s exhausting

Ole Miss THOROUGHLY vetted the man. Got him on the cheap for a year, signed him to an extension and he negotiated a minimal buyout. If IU wants him, he'll be vetted again. That should be enough.

So why didn't UL, UK or UM look at him last year

Breaking Bad is Stevens favorite tv show. An IU grad produced it. Dolson had him set up the set and met Brad there to say let’s team up to win a championship.

So assuming this happened and the job discussions did occur to some extend there is no way I can think of know that Brad would tell only Goodman he wasn’t coming here. He would also have told Dolson, thanks but no thanks.

If the latter happened when do we see signs Scott is moving on

If you hire him you are hiring a leader of men.  He is going to have plan in place on how to get IU back and obsess over it. He respect the history of the place while building his own take on things.  He would also have an exit strategy already planned. lol.    Easy guy to get behind.   Pretty sure he has a massive buyout in place though

He is definitely obsessed with coaches getting fired! I think that is why he moves around so much. Really sad if he can't ever settle down somewhere,  but maybe that is him? To each their own!

You don’t know that they didn’t and they decided against him.

fWIW, I think IU had vetted previously prior to Woodson being hired and didn’t like his history even prior to the incident (plus the feeling was he was going to Texas anyway(

Is anyone else surprised that no other reporter has actually confirmed Goodmans reporting?
You would think someone would have done so by now if that denial was actually from the “horses mouth” and not from a source (not stevens)

If I were media I wouldn't trust Goofman, either.

We don’t know what Ole Miss did.  We do know they didn’t have much to lose with their crappy bball program, so it’s easier for them to take risks.

The burden of proof is on the poster throwing out a dozen lines of information as fact. It's reasonable to be skeptical about the post, especially when actual statements from the primary character contradict what is shared.

I don't agree. The person sharing what they have heard is simply that and should be taken at face value. If someone is going to refute what that person heard, I believe that they would need to prove it wrong to be able to say it was false.

That's not how the information was presented. It was posted as factual events that the poster is using to keep faith in BS being hired. Any person could concoct an elaborate story to justify any opinion and your stance is its on someone else to refute it with fact? We're not going to agree here.

Not for awhile because the candidates for this job are currently coaching a college basketball team

I get it, but that's the problem. Let people bring their stuff here and share it. If you don't buy it, that's ok..don't let it bother you. It's also OK for someone to keep listening and try to take the information to possibly put a puzzle together. I'm sure people have left different boards and forums due to someone's sources being wrong and not feeling they can trust the information being brought.

I'm simply saying that while everything being said may not be true all the time, I believe that some of it is. So for someone to state that "nothing about what has been said is true" is just wrong to say in my opinion.

From what's been said, IU already has a beefy file folder on him.

I've not heard that, not saying it isn't true though. If we go in another direction hopefully we'll hear something.
