Really good points. I will say the more I have chewed on it/watched Drake play, if we do end up having to take a swing, might as well swing for the fences. I would expect Dolson to surround him with the experience he would need to handle the infrastructure that comes along with a behemoth like IU. Archie soured everyone on mid major types so I get the hesitancy (I have it too), but this guy just flat wins. Ultimately in this era of roster building, and the immediate success we have witnessed at UM, UK and UL I think anyone who comes in will be expected to win pretty quick. Maybe not win huge, but the tournament with as weak as the bubbles are now should be a given playing as many Q1 games as we do in the B1G.

I'd expect a guy like McCollum to not bring the hubris we got with the current guy... make sure he's surrounded by what he needs to succeed... but for me McCollum is still probably fourth or fifth on my list behind BS, Drew, OTZ and maybe DeVries (with the same support team).

Bottom line: whoever it is, he has to win and win big and win consistently.

Illinois beating Purdue was huge so now I feel like IU has to win tomorrow because feel like IU matches up better against Oregon than Illinois

If we lose we don't play Illinois. We will drop to 10 and will play the #15

Hoosier Connect

Ahhh, was trying to think of an actual coach. Knowing what I know about this recruitment and how much the kid loves Hurley, I don’t think it matters today who we hire. Could be wrong but the connection I have I ask him to lose the question a month ago and he laughed at me and said forget it.

Wonder what the UCONN and Alabama fans thought when they hired Hurley from Rhode Island and Oates from Buffalo. Do you think they thought they would win championships and make final fours when they got hired

RMK Army to IU

Coach K Army to Duke

Calhoun Northeastern to UCONN

Izzo Assistant to MSU

Boheim Assistant to Syracuse

Roy Williams Assistant to Kansas

Stevens Butler to the Celtics

I see most of the all time coaches went from mid major to the big time and succeeded

The problem is the odds are even or even better they completely flop. Whether IU can risk that again when there are conceivably options more guaranteed to provide stability with potentially unknown or lower ceiling is what Dolson is going to have to weigh.

Our NIL group has talked to the Mullins family more than once since the Purdue game. Talks went well. But he’s not leaving Hurley for just anyone.

If that’s the case then why would someone speak on multiple occasions if HC didn’t have Stevens or May lined up?

Tonight would be a little quick but hell I hope you are right!

You still thinking/assuming that Brad is the guy still? Isnt that who you are on the side of?

Agree about EVH,he was a demon on the guitar...also agreed on wanting a "right now" kinda coach,I'm getting along in years too and would love to see a few good seasons of IU basketball with my Grandsons before they plant me in my forever hole in the dirt...are there any VH tribute bands that do Roth and Hagar VH tributes?

Regarding #4,  Eddies great and certainly recognizable, won’t argue his status in the top 5.

But these guys are just as recognizable off the top of my head.  That’s an easy 10:

Jerry Garcia

Stevie Ray Vaughn

Slowhand

Duane Allman

Trey Anastasio

Jimi Hendrix

Kirk Hammett

Angus Young

Billy Gibbons

David Gilmour

My question is which one of them is going to play at the Brad Stevens press conference, announcing him the new coach of our Indiana Hoosiers.

There is a risk on any coach we hire

Beard off the court stuff plus he has been very average besides two years

McCollum lack of D1 experience

TJO wonder what happened in his two years at UNLV

Drew wonder what his relationship is with the AAU coaches in Indiana. His record since his championship

NIL collectives are allowed to have discussions with recruits who have signed NLIs to another school?

I didn't think collectives were allowed to talk to recruits until the player signs with your team.

Now do the list of ones who didn't succeed.  Can we take bets on which one is longer?
