I was listening to 107.5 just now and they were talking about Stevens and his contract with the Celtics. The host said he has heard the Brad has some equity in the Celtics. He has heard that once the sale of the Celtics is final that Brad will have a payment coming to him. The stipulation is that Brad has to still be an employee of the Celtics. If this is the case and if the amount is pretty substantial Brad probably isn't leaving until the sale is final if at all.

Thanks for passing along.  Just an observation: assuming 107.5 has the intel right, that's a tough equity vesting schedule for a high up exec like a GM/President of Bball Ops.  It's pretty out of market and if true I'd think Brad could negotiate keeping most or all of it if he left -- he certainly earned some goodwill by playing a huge role in their title and he is NBA Exec of the Year.

I'm not trying to rationalize this.  I think the chances of landing Brad are slim.  I'm only commenting on this reported term of his equity in the Celts.

Have maintained all along that Stevens is a valuable asset to the new ownership. They will offer an even greater equity stake .

These would also fit the criteria of a guy no one is discussing and a veteran coach looking for a challenge.

Self

Few

Beilein

Billy D

Self crossed my mind too rumors are on Kansas boards from "Insiders" are they feel as though that is the job Nate Oats would leave Alabama for. Self has said he's NOT done coaching if I won 2 national titles , reporters were saying the I was considering leaving for Oklahoma State last year. Then trying to put me out to pasture so they could hire Oats this year , then why not say peace out I'll go to IU (a place where I'll get the same resources I do at Kansas) and let it be my coaching swan song for about 5-6 years.

Billy D I wanna ask dude did you not watch Nick Saban's career at all? People are ready to RUN that dude out of Chicago and he could have just about ANY college coaching job he wants. NBA ain't working out man come on back to college it WAY easier now I guarantee he would have just about any program a final four contender with in a year make no sense to me

Okay, I know nothing, but I’m going out on a limb here. Just read Bozich’s most recent column. I’ve been reading Bozich since he was with the Louisville Courier Journal way back in the 80s. I’ve found him to be discreet, trustworthy, and an IU guy—which means he is kind of a company guy like Don Fischer who has been able to cover IU through the years and not tick administration or Bobby Knight off back in the day. In said column,  He goes through all the names we’ve been discussing lately—(with no mention of BS). He gives all the positive and negatives of each—all well and good. Then he says he believes SD is gonna hire someone else, no one is talking about—not on the list he just gave. Okay, fine, some unknown guy? No—- he then describes this guy as a veteran coach looking for a new challenge to rebuild IU. Kent Sterling does a video and says the exact same thing. I know to take Bozich seriously and also know he is connected and values access and won’t cross the athletic department. In my mind, BS just went from a 1-2% likely to better than even odds. Here’s what I think. Reporters trusted by the AD know who the hire is—a small select number. And they’ve been asked to hold the story and just discuss other candidates until a set time—probably once senior day is done and the lights turned out in the Hall on Saturday. No more home games, no need to protect Woodson’s ego after that point. With the terrible risk of sounding like isaacTor, I guess—based on nothing but reading between the lines— that around 8 Saturday night Bozich and a handful of guys that are trusted in the AD will simultaneously start breaking stories about rumors of who this “veteran” coach is. I might be totally wrong, but I think “we got him.” Who else could this veteran guy be?

Unless you’ve got the wrong BS. BS could well be the next coach under the Bozich scenario, but just not the BS everybody thinks. Veteran coach… looking for a new challenge… hmmmmm… That guy is indeed out there.

It's a locked thread. Unless you're referring to the Fire Brad Stevens thread.

Thought you were talking about the other guy who we made a separate thread for this morning

He isn't the GM but the President of Basketball Operations

That’s true, but he’s also the de facto GM too. However, it looks like the POBO can receive equity in a team. But that’s where my knowledge ends on that.

On SD calling a reporter and telling him, I agree it wouldn’t go down like that. But if a reporter uncovered certain clues and went to Dolson (a reporter who is an asset to the AD), he could say, “I’m going to be honest with you, but I’m asking you to hold this till ——-“. Kind of like Morgan Freeman did with that reporter in Deep Impact.

on BS owning equity, he’d own it whether he’s an employee or not. They don’t take your stock back when you retire.

I am not saying this info is actually valid either

My one and only post regarding Chris Beard. I think it's important to remember what we might lose with his hire.

*Gone would be the ability to describe our defense as suffocating.

*"Beating the hell out of" an opponent would no longer be tolerated in print

*Opponents who've blown a lead to us, and ended up losing the game could no longer, in good taste, be said to have "choked".

*And who can deny that there'd be serious repercussions if one of our players @$$-punched a Boilermaker, no matter how much that cheerleader had it comin'?

I think it's best that we go with Scott Drew, just for the optics.

I would give Beard a punchers chance at getting the job.

Someone that has been brought up but not talked about much that could be a candidate is Chris Mack

Darkhorse candidate? He's been a pretty successful coach and midwestern guy. Not sure on the falling out with louisville?
