Inside several quotes from Bozich and great a hire it'd be and maybe his name is definitely involved. The reason it's so good is because it's based on unvarnished input from people that are actually in the real information loop. Odom is clearly a name that could be considered; "fairly unanimous pick for the top spot" is a very telling line. I brought up Alan Huss in this thread a ton of pages ago - I did so because he made sense, makes sense, and will continue to make sense. He's the living definition of 'lose the press release, find the right guy' potential if we hire someone that isn't a 60+ year old. The La Lumiere and Culver connections are intriguing. He could be great and is only 46. He could be worse than Archie. It just seems like a crap shoot on nearly all coaches outside of a very select few. Stuhoo and SlammySammy 2

Is that too much of an ask? If we have any games that we think we don’t have a chance going in, we hired the wrong guy… thebigweave 1

I'm sure Fred Glass was the only person who said that or tried to tell everyone it was. lol MANY (media, fans, posters) thought Archie was a home run hire. At the time Archie, Holtmann and Mack were the three hottest young coaches in the country and IU nabbed Archie. There are many examples of mid-major coaches being successful at bigger programs but unfortunately there are many, many cases of them bombing. We all know which category describes Archie. I started my post-secondary career at Purdue. The fire and brimstone preacher was most often called "Brother Max" by the students there. When I got to IU for grad school, I remember one of my classmates telling me about some guy screaming at students who was called "Mad Max." I thought, "That's a weird coincidence." Sure enough, same guy, of course. I wonder what his schedule was at the different campuses around the state. He seemed like he was at Purdue A LOT during my 4 years there. I didn't see him all that often at IU... He actually travelled on a circuit! He hit ISU as well (friend went there). My favorite story from him was that Jesus called him on the white courtesy phone at a Holiday Inn in Terre Haute lol thebigweave and Silat Player 1 1
