General Coach Candidate News

Stevens is not going to accept a job where a current head coach is still working.

But this isn't the typical dead man walking scenario. Woodson has announced he's "retiring."

However, I get not over-shadowing the season.

IF Stevens were coming (I am quite skeptical) there is no advantage to him to announce immediately.

Well I think the first offer was more years and top 3 of highest paid coaches, counter was highest paid by a lot but a few years less. Few other things like that. Just everyday things. But after all that was agreed to it's more on their end now.

I’m completely down with him going for every dime he can get, but wanting fewer years feels like the tell here.

Let's assume that Stevens is the next coach for a bit.  Is anyone here worried about the expectations and if he can really live up to them.  He has been out of the college scene for several years now. Will the fan base give him enough time to get things right or will he need to produce in year 1.

I’m worried that we will lose him to another NBA job or even the Butler job.

If he would leave the Boston Celtics for IU, then I think it’s fair to say he could get the pull in another direction.

I don’t see Brad as a 15-20 year guy.

Suggesting he may want to win a title and hang ‘em up, or do something less demanding like TV or front office work again?

It could be something as simple as the overall money stays the same (or close) but the contract length changes. For instance, if $100M / 10 years ($10M/year) is the offer and the counter is $100M / 8 years ($12.5M/year) or $98M / 7 years ($14M/year).

I have no idea if that is the case, just throwing out a possibility.

I'm pretty skeptical about Stevens even getting as far as negotiations and doubt he's being considered at this time.

If and that's a big if, if he were to come to IU I highly doubt he'd bolt quickly afterwards for another NBA gig other than going back to Boston and definitely not for the Butler gig.

Blazing Saddles!!!

Blazing Saddles is one of the funniest movies ever made. I am way behind on catching up for the day, but I haven’t seen Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid mentioned.

"Can't swim?? It's the fall that'll kill you!" The coaching search is what's gonna kill me.
