He’s been told to keep quiet by the athletic department?  That would imply they know his identity.  I can’t imagine he would ever get any inside info again if true.

Gates is young, but he’s been a chosen one for a very long time.

I’ve got a couple FSU grads down here and they want Gates big time. They are worried about coaxing him to the ACC before they get out of the grant of rights and into a different conference. They think he’s all but a lock other than that.

If I recall correctly @Stuhoo mentioned Gates pretty early in the discussion. It was only minimally discussed at the time, but some did have him on the radar. He's just not a sexy name yet.

You are exactly right he never said there was an agreement in place. He actually said he was talking to someone who wasn't a college coach right now. He was hoping to hear if they wanted the job in the next two weeks.

After Friday, Scott told many people to hush it whether it was a few people in the department who might think they know what is going on or some of the big-time boosters who are putting up the money to pipe it down.

You are correct, he probably told his entire department as well as others.  It wasn’t just directed only at JY!
