Illinois beat Michigan by 23 without their best player. Teams win all the time with injuries. That is on Archie Miller to make sure there is depth. ap2345 and lillurk 2
IUrocker Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 On his radio show Archie mentioned the difference between this year and last is that this year the teams at the top of the Big Ten are even better, mentioning Michigan, Ohio State, Illinois, and Iowa...well heck, 3 of those 4 teams have coaches that were hired the same year and after he was hired at IU. Why can’t you be up there with them Archie? Im sick of him saying things like “well we played a tough team in Michigan, they’re ranked #2 for a reason”...I don’t want to hear that. Yeah whether it's been unlucky injuries within the program or our strength and rehab practices.. I've brought it up before and It's probably nothing to even consider.. but is it time we move on from Tim Garl? Yeah he has his own training facility here with his name on it and everything.. there's been a common factor of injuries between Crean's teams and Archie's teams. Tim has been here for both teams. We've had several different strength coaches between Crean and Archie..so..

That’s where Archie leaving open scholarships comes into play for me. I totally get why a coach would like the flexibility that a couple open scholarships brings. But, that flexibility comes with drawbacks too. Most notably, it hurts your depth. The injury excuse doesn’t carry any weight for me because Archie has chosen not to use all his scholarships. If he had, maybe our injuries wouldn’t have been as tough on the team. lillurk and DChoosier 2

I find it odd that each strength coach we get doesn't seem as worried about jumping higher and running faster. A couple of days ago most posters were on the mountain shouting he will be gone. Marshall does his job. The player development on the court has been a major problem but that's not on anyone besides the coaches. They just didn't provide me with the answers to all the quizzes, assignments, and tests! They provided me with materials to learn that but that wasn't enough. Fire them!! This is not to take all the blame off the coaches. They should absolutely be part of the process but let's quit with the "shifting blame from the players." Armaan wanted and needed a better shot. He worked his @$$ off during the pandemic downtime to make that happen. Other players had opportunities to add to their game or develop a weakness. What did they do?! The offense gives us look, the players have to step up and knock them down. They have access to a 24/7 basketball facility. They have student managers to rebound for them as well as shooting guns. There's really no excuse to not be able to get better on your own time. Frank did it. Victor Oladipo did it. O.G. did it. Morgan did it.

IUrocker Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Sorry to go back to this, but is it thought now that Tom Allen’s raise has nothing to do with showing signs that we could be moving on with a different coach and paying him more than what Archie is making? I know people have started to become uneasy about the possibility of coming back, but if Dolson’s thinking is give Tom Allen a raise and then go out and get a different coach which would obviously cost more than Archie’s salary, then maybe the signs are still there that a move is going to be made. I just didn’t know if anyone thinks that it’d make complete sense for Dolson to just give Tom a raise but keep Archie and IU basketball in the state that their in. A part of me wants to think, whether it’d wishful thinking, that Dolson doesn’t want to play around and is gonna pay up to get someone else in here to get things turned around...even if it may not be Brad Stevens.

He's streaky now. Demizi turned out to be a bust. Leal looked promising but the other night looked really bad! Rob is a head-case at this point. It hasn't panned out, that's for sure. Not all recruits pan out for every coach. CTC had his many fair shares of having NON D1 players. At least we haven't seen that complete mis judgment from Archie.
