Agreed, and definitely makes the thought of who Dolson will be trying to go after pretty exciting, knowing this is showing signs of him willing to pay the big bucks. Like you said, no way the basketball coach will make less than Allen. Dolson is a basketball guy and he’s going to want to make this hire with his name on it a good one.

Makes me a lot more excited about the hunt too. Can’t load up with water guns when you’re going big game hunting. I know IU isn’t the hottest spot in the world right now, but paying  north of $5 million a year can help satisfy a lot of the concerns coaches might have.

Who do you think will be the first reporter to know that we have parted ways with Archie? Will be a local guy? Osterman, Rabby or a national guy like Goodman?

I was hoping you or Hoosierpap would be breaking the news!

Well if it is Pat Forde then my money is on Scott Drew getting the job. Pat has written 3-4 articles in SI about Drew over the last few years.

I totally agree with you, but Allen was already the top paid person at IU even before this raise.

I might be remembering this incorrectly, but didn’t we bump CTA’s salary above Archie’s after we had already hired Archie? I looked and I think we paid him $1.7 million/year when we first hired him. Archie might’ve gotten bumped up if the results had been better, but alas. I just can’t see us bringing in someone new at a salary lower than Allen’s.

Just looked..of the top 25 paid college college basketball coaches only 11 schools pay their basketball coach more than their football coach. Kentucky and Duke are outliers. Average salary wise, others pay their basketball coach either $500,000 to $1.5 million more. I'm guessing Indiana could get someone around $5.5-6.5 million a year. Would be #3 behind Kentucky and Duke. @Chris007 Is this realistic thinking? Not saying this to overpay someone (like UCLA did with Mick Cronin). But if the right guy is there...

I know this table is slightly out of date, but no way Chris Beard would leave Texas Tech with his current situation.

Trying to parse how much I should read into the subtext here.

I’ll guess Rothstein?

This is what I based it off of too..I would agree. Surprised that Mack's agent reached out to IU. L'Ville must be getting hit hard. Stunned Tony Bennett is #18.

FWIW...Stevens annually makes 3.6 mil a year for Boston.

I think Stevens' amount might be from when Boston first hired him. They signed him to an extension in 2020 but didn't release the terms.

Most definitely on Bennett. Kinda shocked how much UNC pays Roy out of pocket. Rest must be coming from Jordan money.

That was on his initial contract extension. He's making more than that now or we all assume because the Celtics didn't release the terms of most recent extension. If I had to guess I'd say he's close to $5M now.
