Which is another good point. Some of our rivals had fake classes (or in UK…they just never went)…but as mentioned above, that team had good grades first semester. It went to crap after we self reported because in some players’ eyes… There was no point of going to class anymore - their season had just been ruined.

I’d like to see the academic history, you have a site that shows this? Just not how I remember it

I don’t remember it that way, it took Crean some time to build the academic record back up, and it wss the blatant drug culture that turned off Cody’s older brother. I’d have to see the academic history but that’s not how I remember it and I was following the program then

And again…that was working itself out the following year. We can’t pretend to be on moral high ground when our Program has had multiple instances and arrests since and Sampson’s teams in Houston are all about winning

Uhh...doesn't he call for the home run and then bunt in this scene?

And while they win the game they fail to win the championship.

No. You’d have to get their transcripts. I was on campus during this time. The team had good gpa that first semester.

Where did I pretend to be on a “moral high ground?” If you’re going to quote me quote what I actually said above, e.g., I’m not some “academic hawk” and the proper role of the program’s compliance group is to work within the grey while advising the bball program not playing gotcha, etc.

The “multiple arrests” you’re referring to are what and whom? You’re glossing over and exaggerating to try to mske it look like what the program was under Sampson continued, completely misleading, and why try to go there?

You had way more of a drug culture with Tom Crean with players smoking in their dorm room, getting hit by teammates in autos, and getting arrested. Most of Sampson’s players quit going to class after their coach got canned. I believe Armon Bassett was suspended a couple games but was done internally. Who else got arrested or kicked out drugs?

Armon and Jamarcus Ellis were both booted for the end of the season for a combination of drugs, bad grades, and being late.  They both tried to return when Crean was hired, but he said they were kicked off for a reason.   Essentially all of Sampson's guys were gone the next year.

I wasn’t referring to you as “moral high ground” sorry if you felt that way. It was just a general statement. Im not going to dive into it because nobody is perfect, but The Program had a few arrests post Sampson and they’re well known. They were all in the news.  No need to hash it out.

During and after “Samsongate” the bball programs academic rating and history was made public, it was really bad, it wasn’t just one semester. I haven’t looked, but doubt it’s still up on the web. We’re going pretty fsr afield of the topic so I’ll call it a day here, and again I love Sampson’s coaching, just don’t think he would’ve worked out anyway at thst time at IU — I’d bet we agree if there was any chance IU could get him now it would be fantastic
