I can't believe that Dolson wasted several weeks with paralysis by analysis. Instead, I think Dolson came to an agreement weeks ago with Stevens or Bennett and we are simply having to wait for the season to end to make an announcement. Not sure it's either of those guys (could be, but I wouldn't bet on it). But your assessment is otherwise correct based on everything I've heard. The one thing I keep coming back to is that it makes zero sense for Dolson to have convinced the powers that be to let him force Woodson out, only to have no concrete plan and end up with a desperation hire. Dolson is far too smart to do that. JF87 and JPCIVOP 2

HoosierInParadise Posted March 14 Posted March 14 What will get fans excited is winning. Yes, but there is a long time between now and next October's Hoosier Hysteria. The new coach will have to pretty much replace the entire team. To get a winner year 1, I believe we need a name to get the players in here to compete at a high enough level to win big. I'm not saying anyone has to agree with me, but I think IU has fallen too far down, become a laughing stock amongst the traditional blue bloods...need some name validation with this hire.

To me there is no way Dolson would pay an 8 million buyout for a guy like Brownell. I can't remember where I heard this but they said the largest buyout a school has paid in basketball was between 4-5 Million Pagoda, go iu bb and lillurk 3

Is it because of the injuries, or does he know he is moving on? They don't turn down invites! Is it IU or another job? UVA? No reason to play in tourneys with the portal here to stay. Gives coaches and players a chance to get started on a new chapter instead of playing in a meaningless game(s). Indiana will conclude their season Sunday if they miss out.

Wasn’t the deal with the Crown or some other tournament a guaranteed payout for the players or the winning team like TBT? I thought that was the draw.

So will both of those tourneys die off? Or be filled with low majors?

The comical Woody hire plus watching TJD renewed some interest. Honestly coach search season has gotten me through the last two. If Brownell comes in and hits the ground running then great. If he is going to do a slow build like at Clemson I’ll be mostly out. This program is probably already mostly dormant unless Dolson has an ace up his sleeve. You hated our last Big 10 championship and Sweet 16 run?
Popular Post Shooter Posted March 14 Popular Post Posted March 14 Interesting resume comparison between two guys in the news today - Fran McCaffery and Brad Brownell. Both are high major coaches for 15 years, at similar level jobs. McCaffery: 8 NCAA Tourney appearances. 6 seasons finishing in Kenpom Top 25. Best season, NCAA 2 seed. Never been past Round of 32. Brownell: 5 NCAA Tourney appearances. 4 seasons in Kenpom Top 25. Best season, NCAA 4 seed (projected this year). One Elite 8, one Sweet 16. I'm taking Fran's resume, despite the lack of tourney results. Do this two years ago and it was not even close in favor of Fran. Is IU really going to hire a guy who has delivered worse results than Fran McCaffery? go iu bb, Indiana8585, JF87 and 10 others 9 1 3

The Celtics are currently selling a controlling stake of the franchise. They may want to wait for the new owners to get their own GM. This has always been the most compelling argument. You can see what the change in ownership has done to the Mavericks, and you can see who's getting the blame for it, their GM NIco. Getting out now gives him a free ticket to go back for big money into another GM job, no matter what he does coaching. The Celtics as constructed have nowhere to go but down.
