Zach Osterman lists mid major coaching options:

Ben McCollum, Bucky McMillan, Jerrod Calhoun, Niko Medved, Ryan Odom,  Alan Huss.

Anybody think the next coach is one of these names?

Yes.

Comments like this is why I hate the rumors posted on here that never have been verified. The only place I have seen Stevens as a legitimate candidate are on our message boards. Every national college basketball analysts I have seen just laugh at the notion of Stevens leaving the Celtics for the IU job.

Yet every analysts think IU should reach out to Stevens.

I still don't understand how some of you are surprised that other power conference coaches are not knocking our door down to coach here. Has the other hires in the last few years not prove to you it isn't likely you will get another top coach to leave their jobs.

I’m still going with no.

Yeah I’ve listened to Todd on Coyle’s show and I don’t think he is realistic about the IU job opening.
He said we could get any of 10 plus p5 coaches. Seems like from day one it all has been a mirage. Guys like stevens and Drew clearly were never coming

Just my opinion on Stevens, but I can't imagine he's in some sort of weeks long negotiation with Dolson/IU that could fall apart at the finish line.

Doesn't sound like Stevens style or how these things even typically play out. These things usually move fast once there's an initial framework.

IMO, he's either never been a real candidate, he's already signed (unlikely IMO, something would have leaked), or he said call me back when your season is over.

I just can't imagine there has been weeks or even months of back and forth.

He isn’t, and hasn’t been as far as I know.  My knowledge stopped after the last home game.

Given the nil stuff it seemed possible. But it appears our hug nil isn't that great a selling point after all.

Probably because it happens quite a bit including 2 out of the last 4 IU coaching hires.

I really like McCollum, but does he really like us? If it’s between Iowa and Indiana does he love his state that much to stay home? Would likely be 4th in line there for NIL and rev share (football, wrestling, women’s basketball).

If we’re worried about his connection to agents and the NIL space a possible solution could be to get a good GM in place.

Great opportunity for a Dusty May analogy along that line of thinking. Absolutely agree about a GM & support staff as a whole. Get a few connected with recruiting in key positions, especially within the state, and the HC inexperience is mitigated. Dude wins on the court, if he can get a great staff for recruiting it’s off to the races

Well UK couldn't get their top choices or UL. UK probably has as much money as we do and their job is better than ours. Most coaches won't mess with winning or happiness so why would they leave their current jobs

I’ve wondered this too. How much does the IU job pique McCollum’s interest.

Hopefully Dolson finds someone.  I just have a bad feeling.  Feels like we're that horny 21 year old at the Bluebird at 1:55am on Friday and only the fat chicks are left.

That sounds so specific and dangerously like a personal experience...LOL
