General Coach Candidate News

Why is McCollum’s ceiling higher, though? Cronin is in his sixth season at UCLA. It’s a comparable job to IU in some ways. The tournament got canceled his first season. He went to the sweet 16 each of the next three seasons, including a trip to the final 4. Last year was a bad year in large part to UCLA’s NIL issues. This year he finished 13-7 in the same conference we’re in. If we put Cronin’s ceiling at sweet 16s and competing for conference championships, what evidence at this point to say that McCollum has a higher ceiling than that other than his “ceiling” being a total unknown?

A statistical weirdness; Drake is a top-50 defense this year. All the while being literally one of the worst 2pt%D teams in the whole country. That is a drawback of the DII talent level moving to the MVC. Even if he doesn't move up, he will get players who can defend the paint more effectively. I'm confident saying this top-50 defense will be one of the worst ones he has at Drake. Lots of room for growth.

If we're still interviewing candidates, wouldn't that mean the opposite of having Stevens locked up...just a thought...

Are the mods reposting replies to boost the page count?  I swear I've read this at least 5 times in the last 2 days.    :)

You stay on that horse if it tries to buck. But it's not trying too.

Well Doggonit I felt like I finally got one of @Tony! Toni! Toné!’s posts. I mean I felt really good and think I was agreeing with you here @Chris007until you said “horse”. Dang if that is a horse, or if there is some hidden meaning where a bull is a horse well I guess I will never get one of his posts. I was feeling all young and cool then you said horse. That has to be the ugliest horse out there.

Archie won the A10 twice, no? With his own players even. Seemed to be on the rise.

He did and it looked like it was. I get people's hesitation. For me I fall back on his almost 20 years of being a leader and producing at a high level. If we can hire a high major coach, I'd be pumped but I'm not counting on it and I just think he's the best option of our available pool.

Well, that and they convinced a good chunk of a B1G fan base they were the next big thing. Same with Archie, Pitino Jr., Pat Chambers, Mike Rice, etc. The list goes on and on.

And everyone of those fan bases had someone like you convinced they were smart enough to determine what separated their guy from the rest of the failed line of mid-major flame outs.

Facts.

Now do the ones who failed.

There is no such thing as a sure thing.so you just have to take a risk sometimes. So show me in the last 5-10 years where all of these top coaches have left their current power jobs for another one.

Calipari to Arkansas and he left more to get out of UK

Can't think of to many more off the top of my head
