He's a serviceable player that I would expect McCollum to bring over from Drake if he is hired, but not one I would expect him to build around. I think 6th man/Galloway type role as a starter is a good spot for him. If Bennett Stirtz is IU's best player next year, we're in trouble. 

Josh Schertz brought over two of the best players in the MVC last year to St Louis next year and they went 18-13 in the A10 this year.

I would be absolutely floored if our next coach hasn't been announced by March 24, when the portal opens. 

The only way nothing is announced is if we're still playing, which would mean we'd be in the Sweet 16.

Seems highly unlikely we make it past the first weekend especially if we begin in the First 4 in Dayton.

No one knows who Dolson is focused on. But if we are hiring the head coach of Drake, the IU basketball brand has fallen tremendously! Despite the NIL war chest, blueblood status, and large coaching salary, that’s the best we can do? 
Sure, McCollum could be successful at IU. But comparing it to Cig & IU football is crazy! One is the losingest program in D1 history, the other is a 5 time national champion.

I feel like IU basketball should be able to do better! Are we all delusional?!?!

As much as we hate them, they are objectively a much better program in the eyes of everyone not wearing crimson and cream glasses. The Indiana job is a great job. Don’t get me wrong. But winning coaches from P4 schools don’t need a blueblood school to win championships. 

Nate Oats came from Buffalo. Fans on this site would have seizures if we hired Buffalo’s coach. But he’s turning out to be a potential all time great. He’s tracking anyways. 
 

Indiana would be LUCKY to land Ben McCollum. It would be the best hire since Bob Knight.

Big difference. I know a coach who has been on The Staff’s of both mid major and high major….theres a big difference in talent. Just because someone is good at the mid major level is far from a guarantee that it would translate to high major.
