Recruiting players into the portal is without question part of the current environment

It just seems wrong but he is testing the NBA waters, maybe he might transfer if he feels a coach can put him in a position to get there.  I am trying to figure out how he can play the 3, he is only 6’ 3” or 4”.  Don’t we need a 6’ 6” or 7” player to play the 3?

A lot of teams play 3 guard lineups. Baylor started 3 guards the year they won the championship and  none  was bigger than 6'5. I really I would like the 3 being 6'6+

FWIW, Florida Atlantic went to the Final Four with a starting lineup that was: 7’0”, 6’4”, 6’4”, 6’3”, 6’0”.

Isn't Kaleb Banks 6'8 or 6'9?

I am just shooting form the hip.

good call Stuhoo as Hulls doesn’t follow many portal players at all. He also seems to be liking at Jacob Groves Oklahoma.

why would it make sense - again, total me guessing - maybe he and Ware were close growing up? Feels he needs a little of the Woody/JHS magic?

read this too - https://www.bestofarkansassports.com/arkansas-basketball-unvarnished-thruth-davonte-davis/

Thanks for the link.  Don't know anything about Davis' future, only wish to comment on the "Best of Arkansas" as its the second article I've read on them in the past couple of weeks.  The first one was (titled has changed now since Ware committed to IU, although the content is the same) "Accusations of Laziness Dogging Indiana Commit Kel'el Ware Deserve Deeper Look".  IMO, two-thirds of the article was a pretty bad hatchet job of a player and then ended with a note that he would benefit from coming to Arkansas.  It's a hard site to figure out, whether they are a mouthpiece of the University given information they are fed or are offering up theories.  It almost seems like they want to paint both sides so that the program looks good regardless.

Are you new to IU basketball? Under a previous coach, we had guys who were 6'6"-6-7" playing the 5. lol

I am ok with a 3 guard lineup but we better have a person on the bench that can also play the wing that is 6’6” or taller in case of post up mismatches with taller wings.  Banks could be that guy!

1986 our center was 6'7

I realize that but that was an OK team that set up the team that won in 1987.  If I remember right, we didn’t have Dean Garrett and Keith Smart then either and that is what prompted BK to go out to the JC ranks and get both of them.

Totally... How in the world did we win the Big Ten in 2016 with 6-3 Robert Johnson at the 3, in 2013 with 6-4 Victor Oladipo at the 3, in 2002 with 6-4 Dane Fife at the 3... HOW? HOW COULD IT BE DONE!?!?

We’re going to have two big bodied 5* talents in the post. We’re not going to have to worry about one of our guards giving up 2” and getting bullied in the paint. Same as we didn’t have to worry about it last year.

If anything we’ll have to worry about smaller, quicker lineups pulling our bigs out from the basket.

There’s really no difference between a “2” and a “3.” You don’t need a height requirement for either spot. We went 6’5” 6’4” 6’7” on the perimeter last year and got abused by smaller quicker lineups.

We are going to find out next year how much of a defensive detriment Kopp was.  Not saying I know how much it was, but being 6’7” doesn’t mean you play like a 6’7” defender.

For those that like to believe in or hear about rumors, lot being pushed on IU trying to get Devo Davis to enter portal. Came up before but being pushed around more today.

I also heard on Ant Wright podcast today that their info is IU only wants to fill 2 and not 3 of the open spots.

and for Scott -no man, not trying to be or pretend to be some “insider” - this stuff is not hard if you have time on your hands and dig enough. I am just a big fan and care about us winning again. I have lots of time right now as my wife had surgery and she needs all my attention. So I lay in bed with her and read and listen to stuff. Thought this was the point of message boards to provide rumors, insight etc.

Wasn't this what Ya or Rosemond or one of the assistants was just talking about on someone's podcast or something? This would be cheating right? I'm sure we'd never do this.

I remember the discussion but I didn’t personally listen. I think some were saying maybe that is what he was referring to and not what he said. I could be wrong.

either way, it isn’t cheating. He has declared. They can talk through others etc. as someone who knows a few who have transferred, it is common for many to know 100% where they are going before they ever enter.

It's not cheating if they've entered the draft process but if they haven't entered the draft it's cheating?
