If XJ doesn't get his waiver, it's one more transfer or recruit needed, correct?

Reneau is the 4.   Despite what woody says about the offense they are recruiting the  5 men to play along side Reneau.   Sparks is the backup 5 and now they are going after their starting 5 in the portal

I gathered that's how they're recruiting.

1. Johnson (if he gets a waiver)

2. Transfer guard (Knecht/Love?)

3. Transfer wing (Ledlum/Battle?)

4. Reneau

5. Transfer big (Ware/Sheridan)

Just seems closer to what we ran this year instead of the modern offenses that advanced in the tourney, though maybe more athletic on the perimeter depending on who the players are.

Really wonder if the Caleb Love talk has some legs. We badly need a guard or 2. We don’t seem to be heavy on any besides TimberLake who isn’t in play. Interesting.

Seems like Battle/Ledlum are front runners for a 1 spot from our staff.

Seems like Shedrick is 1a as our starting 5 option. Ware being considered either as a push or backup option.

The guard spot and the 5 are critical.

We need a shot doctor, too.  Love (if we get him) could use help if it is not too late.  Heck, IU needs help at the line. Well, XJ could use assistance in closing.   And Galloway...  Explain to me who our 3-point specialist is.  Oh, yes...another PG...is it Cupps?  A frosh...? Is this the way of the future?  Scrambling for transfers...  Teammates won't click until well into the conference games.  Hope that Woody is asking: "Can you guard?"

No... Gallo is a wonderful 3. He shouldn't, and he needs to be recruited over for playing the 1 or 2. Getting Johnson back and getting Love would help that. You'd have Cupps and Gunn that can help at the 1 and 2. Gallo gets minutes at the 3 where he belongs.
I agree here. I think Galloway is much more suited for the 3 spot rather than the secondary ball handler.

Received a Ball St offer. From my admittedly single viewing of him, that sounds about right.

could follow same route as Sparks.  One to two years at Ball State equivalent school then make a P5 jump

...not trying to knock Ball St. or others of the like, but it's similar to going the JUCO route until a big school notices you. JMO

I would agree with this as well. Not sure I want him to be our starting 3 but a backup playing the 2 and 3 would be nice

Stop speculating on Doughty.   Not in the cards.

I only put his name out after hearing it mentioned on here.

No, I really DON’T think that he’d be someone our staff would/should pursue. Just was trying to get a feel from the board on how many would want to go the route of “developing” a guy with the last scholarship - typically a guy that’s not going to play much.

You do realize speculate means “form a theory or conjecture about a subject without firm evidence”, right? I have NO idea if the staff would even entertain the thought of looking a the kid. But a discussion on it isn’t allowed? Geez . . .

Easy friend!

It’s because after his name was put out there iit has been independently verified that Indiana is not pursuing him as a scholarship player.

My intent wasn’t that we SHOULD go after the guy. I agree Ball State (or that level) is a better fit for him .

I was only trying to start a conversation about HOW we should develop a roster - especially when it comes to utilizing the last scholarship. I was trying to get a feel from the board on IF we should fill those spots from the portal OR if we should look to develop guys in-house.

This is a message board. Isn’t it a place to discuss how we feel about how we operate as a program?

Mind your manners you young whippersnapper.  Purpose was to not see this thread start to evolve into multiple pages talking about a kid that's not on the IU radar.  Geez yourself.

No name calling-- You,...you....YOOOOUUUUU!!   ;)

It's all good guys.

Let's move on and keep discussing the transfer portal.

Hey, if you want to tell me “please, let’s not let the discussion in this thread go off the rails”, I’m fine with that.

But there’s absolutely NO REASON to be a jerk about it. And, no, this is my last post on the subject in this thread; I don’t want to deliberately derail a topic. Just as I would never want to deliberately do/say something offensive to someone - especially over a message board discussion.

Don’t make Old Fart turn this car around!  Stop fighting in the backseat!
