Game Thread: Iowa at IU 2/7/21 Noon FOX

Finally a non-OT game.

I'm taking credit for this one.  I thought Monday was the 7th, so we didn't play until then.  Flipped the tv and there was 40 seconds left in our game.  SECOND TIME I'VE MISSED A GAME THIS YEAR BECAUSE I HATE THE DATE WRONG....BOTH TIMES AGAINST IOWA.  (Full disclosure, I did also miss the Purdue game, but that wasn't because I didn't know we were playing).
So I saw the last 40 seconds.....plethora of emotion.  TJD knocks down two free throws to put us up 3.  Iowa come down and takes a deep threw to tie it.  Franklin with the ball, takes forever to get in the offense and nails a dagger.

Keep forgetting. That's good luck.

Thing is this team has talent and IS capable of winning and winning a lot.
Guy pulling the strings blows my mind on his strategy sometimes.
Putting the ball in the basket covers a lot of sins, too.

Yeah, that was a HORRIBLE pass....and it was an unguarded one as well.  I'll be 53 this week but I know I could throw a pass where at least it's up for grabs.  If there is no backboard, that pass would have dented a seat.

When I know I'm going to miss a game, I DVR it.  What sucks is because I missed it, I've seen us play 40 seconds against Iowa.  Found out post game that Phinisee hit a big three.  Sounded like our guards had a horrible game until the last minute.

So what was the key?  I know holding Iowa to 65 points is huge.

Great win. So important now to back it up with another. Frank with a silky smooth shot from the wing. Loved that they didn’t take the TO there. Probably won the game. Big 3 from Rob when we needed it the most. If you’re going to treat that kid like **** the entire game, you better step up now too. Pulling Lander for Rob in the final quarter was absolutely the right decision. He HAD to be on the floor defensively. The freshmen played exactly the right amount.

Need Rob and Al to get back out on the court and get some shots up. 2-16 usually isn't gonna get the job done. Freshman are starting to look comfortable and are very active off the bench

I didn't see Rob's shot, but it's huge that Armaan WANTED the ball with the game on the line.  We haven't had guards like that since Yogi.

“On paper” the next four games should give us a good chance to solidify a tourney bid. Following up a win against a top 10 team with a good effort against NW would be good to see.
