With the standard we set with Alford, I'd Say Fife is a no go too by just being on MSUs staff. Shady RapeU isn't anything we should want a part of anymore. And we have no clue what Fife has known of while being there.

I fell out of my chair because I somewhat agree with you. I hadn't thought of it like that. I do think Izzo should have been out for everything that has gone on there

Just one of those wild things to think about. I believe in giving second chances. Especially if the behavior is out of the normal. But the standard has also been set. And for all of us, Fife is a mystery in that regard. Personally, I wish we could find a way to get Calbert back.

^^This^^ Although, unlike with Izzo, I've never seen anything about Fife's involvement in influencing victims.

I sharpened my hatchet a few weeks ago when it started getting cold.  I'm serious.  Archie inherited NBA player Juwon Morgan and also the best scorer of his tenure Devonte Green.  Assuming TJD leaves after this year (as is the plan I believe), the next coach doesn't get near as much.

Juwan Morgan averaged 7 points a game before Archie got to IU. And Devonte Green?! I probably liked Green more than almost anybody else, but if you're listing Green as evidence of taking over a good roster, that is a wild stretch

It was a team better than getting destroyed by Indiana State and IPFW.

Comparatively speaking, what player would the next coach inherit that can score the ball?

Franklin for sure.

Does TJD stay? If not, I got nothin beyond Armaan.

Possibly.  Crean's last roster was flawed as is Archie's.   But I would say Crean also left a better foundation by having two Big Ten titles under his belt, showing how successful a coach could be here.  Archie has shown none of that, bringing the perception of the program down.

2 B1G titles in 9 years.  You going give Archie all 9 years to match what Crean did in the same time period? I honestly don’t think you would survive 9 years of Archie even if he was winning.

If he started with zero returning scholarship players like Crean did and had his 4th team performing the way Crean's did while having expectations of #1 in the nation the next...then Archie would certainly get 9 years.

Expectations and perception.  Archie has brought none of that.

It’s an interesting discussion.   Archie or any other coach could suck it up in the first 5 years of a contract and have an really good last 4 years and basically all they would have to do to improve on what has done before them is win the B1G a couple times and make it pass the sweet 16 once.

Its honestly set up nicely for whichever coach can figure it out.

Race has had moments. I don’t think we go to him enough. I think any new coach will take Hunter, Leal & Lander plus Stewart. Not counting Galloway as a sophomore.

It wasn't a good roster, but it wasn't a terrible roster either. I'd argue it was a below average to average roster. These were the guys on that team:

Al Durham, Josh Newkirk, Justin Smith, Robert Johnson, Devonte Green, Juwan Morgan, Zach McRoberts, De'Ron Davis, Freddie McSwain, Clifton Moore, Collin Hartman.

We didn't have any stars at that team. We didn't have any deadeye shooters. It was basically a hodgepodge of solid role players. But it was definitely better than anything Crean had in his first season.

Honestly, that was probably my favorite Archie team. We hung into games that we didn't have any business hanging in because we played hard. (Although we did have horrible games like Indiana State and IPFW). My biggest issue with Archie is that four years later our roster isn't significantly better than it was when he got here. We still don't have any deadeye shooters. We do have one star in TJD, but other than that we just have a bunch of role players. Our team next year projects to be much worse than this year's unless TJD miraculously returns. Recruiting has grinded to a halt.

By Crean's fourth season, he had us at 27-9 and made the sweet 16. Archie... probably won't be getting us to the sweet 16 this year. Crean was fired because he was too inconsistent. He couldn't sustain his success. But he at least had success to point to.

I promise you he doesn’t want it. Now he does wish he was doing more for the Pacers. Right now his only job is counting shots and rebounds. That’s it.

This post should end the Calbert discussion.

Right!

Parker Stewart hasn’t played for IU yet, but he was about 9ppg as a Pitt freshman, and over 20ppg at TennMart.

That’s pretty scorer-ish.

Crean left us worse than an ex girlfriend left for the starting QB of your high school team. Roster was completely trash, recruiting was beyond terrible.

Archie has had his years. This recruiting class appears to be his best, the kids will be four year players. Whether or not Archie is here, we'll have something to start with if and when a new coaches takes over.
