Today was Archie's 101st game.

We got beat by Texas by 22.

Fun fact: Indiana beat North Carolina State on the road in a huge game for the program in Creans 101st game.

That was THE game where I knew we had a team that was going to compete and be legitimate.  That NC State team was talented and good.

If we had Crean offense and Archie defense we might be a good team.

On that note, why do Archie teams play so lost/tentative/weak on the offensive end? They look like they've never played competitive basketball on the offensive end.  Its odd.  No compete in our team today.  They folded from the tip.  Almost like the @duke game recently where they shouldn't have gotten off the plane.

Year 1: No shooters

Year 2: No shooters

Year 3: No shooters

Year 4: No shooters

Weird, similar results each season.

As Bill Walton would say, "Someone needs to tell Archie he needs to recruit someone who can shoot the ball"

But hasn't Archie done that?  Needed shooters.  Gets a grad transfer in Even Fitzner.  Didn't pan out.  Needed a shooter and a baller.  Got Romeo Langford.  Didn't pan out.  Need a PG and a baller.  Got Kristian Lander.  Yet to be seen.  Need another shooter. Get Anthony Leal. Yet to be seen.   Two of those have been Mr. Indiana.  Two have been 5 star recruits.  And Hunter was touted as a shooter unless I misread.  Another that hasn't panned out.

So far, the only recruit that's filled a need has been TJD as a post presence.

Only defending Miller here in terms of that he has brought in for the needs, they just haven't worked out so far.

Which would speak to the problem being him

That Oladipo reverse, Hulls' "layups" from 25', Cody doing his thing...

If we could get that offense/defense we'd be a consistent top 10 team.

This is alarming to me as well. I've never seen Lander play in high school but he looks completely lost and overmatched. Yes, I know he just turned 18 but he looks no where near ready for college basketball, let alone Big10 basketball. Even passing he looks tentative and slow with his decision making. Only one bad game for the team, and would chalk it up to that if there wasn't the established pattern during the Archie era of these types of no shows.

Lander went from a Five Star recruit to a kid who’s 2-12 in his first three games...No one on this team can finish consistently around the rim. No one can hit open shots nor create their own shot.  It’s not just recruiting athleticism over talent. It’s poor coaching and game planning.

When I see guys like Geronimo, Hunter and  Galloway thinking it’s ok for them to lead breaks instead of finding a ball handler...that’s coaching. That’s not understanding how to put guys in a position to succeed. I didn’t like the Archie hire then, I don’t like it now. We don’t have any out of bounds plays. We don’t have anything that resembles a competent offense scheme. It’s basically live and die by transition offense.

Just finished watching. That was Effing TERRIBLE. TJD has disappeared the last 2 games. I gave him a pass yesterday, but He needs to step it up. As does the whole team.

Not trying should be a ticket to the bench. It’s not though

Lander looks like he should have redshirted.

I watched Lander play in HS.  I thought he was overrated in HS.  He's good and will get better but I never believed the 5 star status like others have.  Like I said the other day, he isn't DJ Carton.  He's young.  He'll adjust, but he was overrated in HS.

I'd almost assume that a redshirt was discussed as a deal breaker for him to commit to IU. I honestly have no idea how many games you can play in a 2020 college basketball season and still redshirt but I thought that college football had a limit of 4 games a few years ago.

Galloway at least pushes the tempo on the break, more so than our guards. Our guards are way too slow on the break so if Galloway has the ball and wants to get out and run, I have no problem with that.

I don’t think this year counts as a year of eligibility but I could be wrong. If so, it’d be pointless to redshirt really.

Yeah he will be good next year imo.  This year this is who he is.  He is talented, but talent of a high school senior versus 22 year old men doesn’t mean as much unless you are a Zion.  Even Zion would have struggled his senior year against high college kids.  I know I wasn’t as high on Lander as others, but the kid has a body that doesn’t play.  His shot looks rushed.  He looks rushed.  Once it slows down and he gains about 20+ lbs of muscle he will be fine.  Hope it’s this year and not next on the speed slowing down.

Galloway played a lot of point guard/forward for CMA. He's had the ball in his hands a lot, Galloway is the least of my concerns with this squad.

And we can trust him to make a smart play more than others.
