Yeah, but it’s Georgia. People say Georgia expects nothing. They expect better than Fox. It’s not a gimme Crean beats that. SEC is going to be loaded over the next few years.

One thing we can be sure of, is Georgia nonCon is about to get really cupcakey!

So he had 5 post season births and went 0-2 in NCAA and 1-3 in NIT?

Very likely he'll surpass that.

Georgia is the definition for not being a basketball school. But there is great Talent in Georgia and Florida. Crean could take advantage. Georgia will be happy if he averages 20 wins a year with an NIT berth and be overjoyed with an NCAA bid.

If he couldn't take advantage of the great talent in Indiana then I doubt he will in Georgia and Florida. His creepy personality and off-putting demeanor toward coaches will still be there.

Made a post season 5/9 years at Georgia. Crean could also do worse. Time will tell what his recruiting looks like. Will he find another Wade, Oladipo or land a Zeller?

I don't but I am excited to find out.

It's my suspicion that Crean's full recruiting capabilities may have been held back by the AD.

Crean hiring Kenny Johnson and Chuck Martin tells me Crean was willing to be an Izzo or a Calipari if he could have.

I could be totally wrong here, but IDK.

He is a mediocre coach. He is mostly just a salesman. He is good at selling himself. I think it is obvious he is not a good game coach. He won't do well at Georgia, just like he did poorly at IU.
It's amazing people keep falling for the used car salesman pitch. Fool me once, fool me twice, and now fool me a third time. Different team and same old Tony Robbins nonsense.

The latest numbers that I've seen were 2013-14... Crean spent over $715K in recruiting expenses... sorry... the only one holding FCTC back was FCTC.

He had way too many misses (Jeremiah April, Tijan Jobe, Peter Jurkin, Bawa Muniru, Guy Marc Michel, Austin Etherington, Grant Gelon, Tim Priller, Bobby Capobianco, and the bad character wash-outs like Hanner Mosquera-Perea, Devin Davis, Jeremy Hollowell, the entire "Movement", save Yogi, and Stanford Robinson, Remy Abell). And Crean "screwed the pooch" with Luke Fischer who was run off by Crean's players. And then there were those who were "creaned", including Matt Roth and Maurice Creek.

I'm sure there are others... like Max Hoetzel - not sure where to list him...

Crean was his own worst enemy. For every "home run" recruit or diamond in the rough that panned out, there were 3 or 4 who had no business being invited to Bloomington ... and when you throw in the fact that he's a horrid bench coach, we get what we got - and IMO, WAY too much of it.

Along these lines, I thought it was very telling that his response to not being able to sustain success after Oladipo and Zeller left was that he should have put out a press release saying we were in a second rebuild. It wasn't, I should have had more guys prepared to take on larger roles, or should have had a better handle on the situation, it was I should have used the press to make me seem better than I was.

I still think this is why he goes out of his way to make friends with the press. They all fall all over themselves talking about how great of a guy he is, and put the blinders up to what is really happening on the court.

I don't have any ill will towards the guy except that I thought he handled many things poorly. I really hope he has learned from his mistakes an can put together something successful at Georgia. I'll believe it when I see it though. Sustained.

Just kick back and enjoy the spectacle; It's more fun that way.

UGA is not a basketball school, but they are passionate about sports. I very respectfully pointed out a couple of things about Crean on the WGAU FB page here and was immediately slapped down by diehard UGA fans. They think getting Crean is a major coup and don't want to entertain any other ideas.

Crean's new home.

I think it is great they are excited to have him.  Fresh start for him.

Crean flamed out badly at IU. The roster he left Archie was barely a .500 one and his recruiting went into the crapper. How do you resurrect your career after that? Has his personality changed at all? His lack of self awareness? His understanding of basketball?

Crean is the second highest paid coach in the SEC. You would think Georgia would demand more than an occasional NCAA tournament apperance for that kind of money.

Well, Crean CAN clap well, shuffle papers and talk about "deflections"... plus he's mastered that "deer in the headlights" look... not bad for the supposed "smartest man in the room".

Crean cannot win without lottery picks on his roster, and even then, his defense is pathetic and his offense underperforms. Maybe UGA will be happy with mediocrity... but for that price, one would hope that they would expect more.

I will be shocked if he survives the term of his initial contract.
