I’m glad IU didn’t get Wilkes. No way him and Archie would have meshed. The kid messed the bus and does what ever he wants on the court

Not possible, he's from Indiana! I keep hearing over and over about how Indiana players are amazing and the answer to our problems. Hmmmm...maybe that's a ridiculous line of thought?

Is it true Alford has been to the sweet sixteen 3 out of 5 years at UCLA?

It’s not what UCLA fans want but that’s pretty decent results.

I think Alford is a second tier type coach. We make him out to be worse than he is imo.

He's literally never been past it though.

The coaches we have fired plus Archie all managed to get past it quicker.

I definitely understand that. That’s why he isn’t an elite coach. He’s not terrible either though. When u get the talent he seems to get, the stars might align someday. 3/5 years to the sweet sixteen would give me hope as a fan so long as the recruiting doesn’t dry up.

Alford took Iowa, yes Iowa to 3 NCAAs and 3 NITS in 8 season. The first miss was his first season, the second miss was 17-14 year.

New Mexico (the powerhouse) went to 3 NCAAs and 3 NITs in Alfords 6 season.

Now he makes 4 tourneys in 5 years with UCLA, 3 being sweet sixteens.

Is he really an awful coach? Come on.

He's not awful but he will never ever win anything of significance. So if your goal is to win a championship the time to change is now.

Same reason I wanted Crean gone for 4-5 years.

Judge him the same way you judged Crean.

Crean took Marquette (powerhouse) to the Final Four

Alford adopted a Bruins program that was coming off massive success under Howland

Alford has had some of the best recruiting classes every year at UCLA

Check out Alford's AjdD KenPom numbers. He's literally Crean with more talented players.

Fran McCaffery took Iowa to 3 ncaa tournaments and 3 NITs( runner up finish)
But most people think he is an awful coach.

I don’t think Alford is awful by any means he just isn’t a coach that I would want to be running the program I’m invested in
