MSU....Heat on Izzo?

Atheltic department staff and staffs from FB and BB teams.

Thanks for sharing.  Honestly, I don't have any sympathy for the staff.  At some point 'they' have to look in the mirror and look into the eyes of the person looking back at them.

Totally agree. Izzo has a daughter, how could he not do anything to those players. But the person telling me this is good friends with Izzo and he still swears it's all ESPN fault for reporting everything. They are delusional up there

What's worse is that Izzo's a small piece to the puzzle of this apparent massive epidemic in East Lansing.

I read the Detroit Free Press story last night and boy, is it disturbing. There needs to be some massive housecleaning at MSU, in my opinion. When the alleged victim went to report the incident to the MSU Counseling Center, they were very helpful -- until they learned she claimed to be raped by basketball players. Then, things really turned. It was made clear to her "that if she chose to notify the police, she faced an uphill battle that would create anxiety and unwanted media attention and publicity as had happened with many other female students who were sexually assaulted by well-known athletes.” That's despicable. ... Tom Izzo has claimed all along he wants to be part of the healing process. At this point, I think him stepping down would be a big first step in that process. If the woman was coerced and became too afraid to report the alleged crime, where did that intimidation come from? If not Izzo, it had to come from someone within the athletic or basketball program.

On a sidebar related to IU, I still think how Steve Alford handled the Pierre Pierce issue might have cost him the IU job. Unless Fred Glass was creating a smokescreen, in his news conference announcing the firing of Creen, his checklist on hiring a new coach sure seemed like a beckoning to Alford to come on home. But I think there was such a backlash about his conduct, I think Glass decided to go in another direction. I could be wrong, but I think that was a big part of it.

^This. If they fire Izzo then they have to completely clean house from top to bottom.

Didn't we kind of have that with Bob Knight. Many people, including me for awhile, defended his actions even after the video came out.

First off there is no comparison in these two situations. I still defend knight in that situation. I see nothing wrong with putting a kid in his place. Times changed and his tactics were determined to be unacceptable but i think society is proving that maybe we should be putting kids in their places a bit more than we are. Just my opinion

I agree with you on both Izzo and Alford.  I think the Pierce issue changed the way a lot of people view about Steve. That and he isn't a great coach. He won't be around at UCLA much longer.

This keeps getting worse and worse for MSU. Interim president tried to coerce a Nassar victim into settling:

Why doesn't someone step in and fix this whole mess? It feels a lot like the NCAA situation dealing with cheating basketball programs but in this case it's people actually getting abused. This is disgusting and everyone related to any of this should be canned and never be allowed to work around young people.

Even more egregious than the culture of enabling and protecting the sexual predator and pedophile is the fact that MSU is proposing tuition rate hikes to cover the ‘attorney fees’ for defending their actions and dealing with the fallout.

This MSU President must have huge ones (or no conscious) to present a tuition hike.  That's absurd...

I could see the State government riding in to save the day.

How’s Uncle Izzo doing with his steadfast commitment to help the victims and community heal?

Can you imagine as a parent thinking...yeah, I want to send my kid to that in environment?

And great!  Glad I can help out with some extra funds to help them get past the Nasser issue.  Sign us up!!
