If Davis is back and healthy we’ll be fine with size. Jackson-Davis isn’t huge but he’ll add mass over the summer. I like Thompson’s ability to defend the post too. We need shooting in a bad way.

Al and Phinisee will hopefully improve. And hopefully Hunter is as advertised.

Damezi was supposed to be a great shooter right? He seemed more interested in driving than looking for the outside shot but that might have been what he was told to do. I would have preferred we had him and or Al be that guy that strategically looks for that outside shot. Catch and be ready to pull the trigger quickly if the shot is there.

Yep he was advertised as lights out from deep and cannot even get off the bench. Its amazing how hyped up some fans make these kids.

Exactly. People are acting like him and Jake are lost causes. If they are still like this next season maybe they won’t contribute.

He was a freshman. 

So were rob and romeo. Both started. The fact is if you cannot even get a couple of minutes a game you have a long ways to go.

Seen Valpo maybe 3 times in 2 yrs, so I’m sure someone will be able to provide better insight. What I saw was: lefty, good size, ok length, runs well enough, lateral movement is not good, not strong, fair hands, decent low post fundamentals, has a little jump hook, can face up and make a 15 footer, pretty good vision out of the post, defense is not good, can’t recover from a hedge, not a rim protector other than shear size, fouls a lot, mostly due to movement issues. If I were game planning I would just put in high ball screen action over and over because he has no chance to defend it. Might have a niche role as a 1 year rental, but seems like a fit problem for CAM’s defensive scheme.

He did get a couple minutes per game. And no one is saying he doesn’t have a long ways to go, but he was a low-ranked Freshman. You expecting any more than what he gave us is absurd or completely ignorant.

IMO our roster is going to look so much different next year. I’d bet on adding at least 2 more guys, possibly 3. Whether that’s through grad transfers, normal transfers, or freshmen. Have a feeling we’re going to get an impact grad transfer though

He did get a couple minutes per game. And no one is saying he doesn’t have a long ways to go, but he was a low-ranked Freshman. You expecting any more than what he gave us is absurd or completely ignorant. 

I wasnt the one expecting more and pumping him up. That was other people. He played about as much as I thought he would. I never expected him to contibute much at all and the same for Jake

Daniel Utomi is a name to keep an eye on. 6'6 averaged 14 this year & 16 previous year. He is a career 39% 3 baller & took plenty attempts so numbers aren't flawed.

Nike Sabande is from Indy & plays for Miami (OH). Has a lot of talent, but he will sit out & play 2. I've heard his name.

Derrik Smits is obviously gonna be linked to IU, but I think he will be a backup plan at best.

I've been asked about Pipkins from Umass, but unless DG transfers I just don't see it. IU has Rob entrenched at PG for 3 more years maybe less, but still regardless he is the guy. DG could start, but if not he will be the 6th man 100% if he is back.

 

There is going to be hundreds of more names added so don't get caught up on one guy early.

Only transfers I could see at this point from IU would be Clifton & Justin Smith. I expect one or two. We're looking at adding 1 at worst & 3 at best. DG or Damezi wouldn't shock me or maybe even Jake, but he works so hard I think Archie would love to keep him around & will tell him as much, but does he see a path to PT?

I just wondered why when he did play he did not focus on excelling at the thing he was good at, shooting the 3. It seemed to me he looked to drive as often as he looked to shoot the outside shot.

Learn to excel in one area and add other skills after that. We desperately needed that outside threat and I think Al and Damezi would have been well suited to be that guy always looking for that pass so they can catch and shoot.
