Corruption in College Basketball

First of all, I don't believe for one second that he had zero to do with it or that he didn't know about it. Second of all, that doesn't even matter. There's been enough s--t go down in his program over the past few years that any coach would HAVE to expect to be terminated after the latest revelations -- even if he didn't know. But he did know -- he's the one who said "If one of my players has a beer in Louisville, I know about it." Jeezus, just stop lying.
He's a slimy guy and always has been. Didn t need to be cause he's a good coach but he went down the wrong road.

Donovan Mitchell according to Hooker U fans

See I would call BS on that whole situation for a couple of reasons. First off we were getting an OV according to him as of July of 2014. Second, he was 91st composite as of July of 2014. That doesn't scream of a kid getting $100k. KJ got involved when he got to Louisville in second summer session. We back off quickly. He commits to UL quickly after he jumped into top 30 of 247 composite. Can someone else explain to me why this wouldn't seem somewhat suspect? $100k seems to be the going rate for top kids. He didn't blow up until the summer before his senior year when KJ went to Louisville. I highly doubt a kid of his stature at the time he suggested was getting offers with guaranteed money. If I am wrong on any of this please correct me anyone.

It doesn't say when the 100,000 was offered.

IU hating Doyel really doing some mental gymnastics to tie IU into this mess. What a choad. Bashing IU brings in the clicks so the Star does it constantly.

I can't stand Doyel. I don't know who's worse, him or Dakich.

I hate Doyel, but if anything that article should bring Indiana fans comfort that our university president is personally invested in our program’s continued compliance with the law and NCAA rules. Someone can generally irk you, but still do things well occasionally. This was a great piece, in my opinion.

I agree, Doyel can get annoying. I don't think he's actively trying to drub up implications regarding IU in this case. I appreciate that he bothered to get McRobbie's perspective. Nothing wrong with his approach here because we do have a recent and troublesome history, unfortunately.

I think the part probably doing the most panty-wadding is where he expands on Archie's press conference quote. People read into that as his biased opinion on where IU stands.

They were worried for a while about finding Kentuckians with enough teeth to actually bite the coins...........until someone finally explained to them what bitcoin is.

Now this is just wrong.  I'm not sure there are words simple enough to explain bitcoin to a Kentuckian.

Board met and almost immediately went into a closed executive session and now this.  A unanimous vote so doesn't look like Slick Rick has any supporters at this level.

The athletic board is back in session and is voting on starting the "for cause" termination of Pitino. Unanimous approval.

The best part of having said "recent and troublesome history" is that all of our problems were caused by an a-hole coach with a history of such transgressions, and the fact that we self-reported the issues. We may have never had the NCAA come after us without that self-reporting... of course, then we might still have the coach who shall not be named (but who has multiple cell phones).

My point is simply this... given the self-reporting aspect of our "crimes", and the recent black mark on the program, it's highly unlikely that we would be involved in any of this... we aren't Kentucky, Lousiville, UCLA, UNC, etc... and in this regard, that's a good thing.
