2018 General Recruiting Thread

Recommended Posts

I'm talking about getting their hopes up so high, that if for some reason he doesn't committed here then people will think this class is a failure.

Edit. To be clear I agree with everything people have posted about RL. I just hope people see this class as a success and not a failure if he doesn't come. I remember some down on Archie because it wasn't Billy.

Oh I still want a PG in 2018. But to say we don't have a PG on our roster is false.

Exactly. Heck Giannis learned to play point for the first time EVER and did alright this year and Romeo could do exactly what he did in the Bucks system. The game has changed to where others handle the ball not just a PG and Romeo's handles are better than any besides maybe Garland. His vision is a ? cause he hasn't had to show it off. I would be fine with a Green/CuJo/Durham/other 18 recruit along with Romeo handling the responsibility.

All title teams also have a go to scorer that can get buckets whenever and Romeo is that as Garland is good at scoring, but wouldn't say he can get a bucket whenever.

There are arguments for both, but like everyone else has said the in state and statement get are the difference for me as well. Romeo is a talent we may not see in awhile and I would rather see him here than anywhere else.

It wouldn't be a failure of a class at all. It just wouldn't be as good a class

I think our fanbase is going to have to get used to a head coach that utilizes very little "coach speak", and says what he means.

Archie said, and I assume he means, that we are inside-out. That means that his remaining priority recruits for the 2018 class are Robert Phinisee, Romeo Langford, and to a certain extent Aaron Henry. The other recruits are being followed to get quality players if the priority recruits are no longer available.

It wouldn't be as good for only next season. It could be better without Romeo in future years if we land a high 4* kid that stays for multiple years.

You're correct. But I'm just saying that getting Romeo would be such a huge feather in the cap of one Archie Miller. Gets Romeo five months on the job? That would instantly send shockwaves around college basketball

And I love that approach. Archie isn't gonna beat around the bush. He knows what to do

So it seems RL and RP are targets 1-2.

I have made my doubts known about RP but if that is the direction we go, I imagine the staff is confident he can be the guy.

For me it's a whole lot better idea than trying to take a guy like Dort, with a checkered academic history and no time playing point guard, and trying to make him into one.

DG is still a high priority for the staff

I don't buy the shockwave talk. It will be great for IU, but Duke, UK, Kansas, and UNC will not care or be scared. Those are the programs we want to be competing with.

I hope we get Langford and I think it helps with instate recruiting. Getting Langford is not something I'm expecting.

I think the shockwave class could be 2019. Get Brooks, Watford, and another top guy and people will then be taking IU serious at a national level. The base is this class. The star power is coming later. At least that's how I see it.

IU landing Romeo would get those programs thinking. But to your other point, I expect IU to get Brooks and Watford in 2019

It might not scare those teams, but we've beaten UK 2 out of 3 and UNC 2 out of 3, with Crean and ill-built rosters. They'll notice.
