"Lack of size".. don't care.

"Recruiting over".. that's for RP to determine. If he allows his spot to be taken later on, that's on him. Competition breeds success

You must operate with a level of toughness in everything you do, you can't make any excuses, and you have to earn the right to be good-Archie Miller

We could certainly do worse than Phinisee, but my problem with this is that I think we could also do better. In several months Green could demonstrate great point guard skills and then we wouldn't need Phinisee anymore. We could bank that scholly to use in '19. I wouldn't be mad if we got him, but I wouldn't be thrilled either.

We could definitely do worse for a player who his junior year averaged 21 pts 7 assists , 6 reb and 3 steals playing in Indiana's highest class 4a. We might be able to do better but those are some pretty good numbers playing against the highest competition the state of Indiana offers. Being a 4 year starter and leading his team to the state finals game as a sophomore earns him from me. I won't hold losing to the other sophomore from new Albany that year by 3 against him

Let's revisit this when he is trying to convert layups at the college level with his size and athleticism.

As long as we revisit an athletic pg with size having the same problem trying to convert layups at the college level

Not that worried about his finishing. Seems pretty clever around the rim and finishes comfortably with both hands. For me I worry about whether he can consistently fight over the top of a high ball screen and does he have the lateral quickness to stay frontal against top PG's.  I have this vision of us playing Illinois in a couple of years and Mark Smith just abusing him physically.

If Coach Miller thinks RP is an integral part of the team he is building, then I'm certainly not going to disagree. It's fun to speculate about whether this kid or that is a better recruit, but Coach Miller is not Coach Crean and I am perfectly fine with whoever he picks, especially at the point guard position.

He has played very well in-season and I'm not questioning that. My biggest question about him is his size, and his size isn't as much of an issue in high school. Opposing point guards are going to have several inches and 20-25 pounds on him at the least. If he doesn't have elite athleticism or quickness to counter that then it could cause problems. I get that other people aren't worried about his size but it's just a concern for me. If he comes here I hope he proves me wrong.

And I get that other people are worried about his size and athleticism. For me I have seen too many great college pg in college that lacked size and athleticism that won championships in college but were terrible pros. Khalid el Amin was a pretty good pg that lacked athleticism and size. He won big in college but was a terrible pro.

On a side not. Watford and hulls and Will are on espn2 playing in the tournament

If Green blows up and has a great final 3 years you still want another point guard in case he gets hurt right?

If he never gets hurt then Robert is a backup for 2 years and then has a chance to take over as a veteran. Or maybe we get a better kid and he remains a backup. I still like having a quality backup pg. getting 15 - 20 mins a game while the starter rests are important minutes.

Would Robert be okay with being a backup though? He could probably go elsewhere and start immediately. Aside from his size another worry for me is that getting RP points toward a 5 man class imo, and I'd reallyyy like to avoid that.

It's gonna be a 5 man class. There's no doubt about that

You don't think CAM possibly banks one? I'm not so certain it's a 5 man class (unless we're counting Race Thompson.

I am counting Race Thompson. He's still in that class as far as I'm concerned. He's not gonna play this year so that's my reasoning. I would hope Archie doesn't use all three scholarships remaining. Get a PG and Romeo. Bank the other one and get to it in 2019

Everyone realizes RP is a top 100 player, correct? He isn't a chump. He is the EXACT type of player we haven't recently from our state.
