I like this hire. Let's face it: Donovan and Stevens weren't happening. Wanted no part of Alford. I thought Bennett and Miller were the next best "candidates," and I don't think Bennett was gonna happen, either. I think he's still pissed IU fired his sister all those years ago. Why are so many people being so negative right now? Archie hasn't even coached a single minute at IU yet! And let's be honest, even if we would have hired Donovan a lot of people (not most of you in this board) would have been upset that we didn't hire Alford. Were fans excited when IU hired Knight after having a mediocre season at Army? My guess is probably not and we all know how that turned out. Anyways, I wish nothing but the best to Archie and hopefully he can lead us back to greatness!

You might be right- which makes me sad too. The best coach IU can get is a 30 something from a mid-major.....Nothing to do now but hope for the best and I'm glad many are excited, but I am extremely under-whelmed.

Just saw the UK radio stations had all pin pointed Archie as their guy once Cal was done within 5 years. Also said it was him or Marshall but age difference would make Archie the favorite. All we did was get him sooner. He may flame out but I dont believe he will. I am excited to say he is our coach. Like I said yesterday if we were taking a risk. Then Mike White, Archie and maybe Chris Collins were home run hires. If you truly want this guy to fail then your not an IU fan. Sorry but its true. Billy wasnt coming. We all thought maybe but the smoke screens of Billy never had legs sides optimist IU fans.

I don't mean this in a condescending way at all... seriously.....please go and Google Archie Miller and try to ingest as much as you can. Dude is a star. We got a young guy that literally checks every single box of an elite coach. We will be pleased.
