David Williams. He actually committed and we backed off shortly afterwards. Seems like he had a less than stellar career at UNC-Greensboro

This actually came close to happening a few times. McCleod vouched for Williams and williams committed without Crean ever evaluating him in person and then the kid that transferred to San Diego st got an offer and committed after Crean recruiting him for a week and Crean only attending 1 practice

Oh yeah. That's right. The kid with the "flame thrower".

Some of these names...good lord. How did Crean even find those kids? I mean, we always wondered where he came up with some of the teams to fill out our nonconference schedule, but any coach with an internet connection and the attention span of a 10 year old can go online and seek out teams that have been terrible the last few years running. It's almost like that's what he did in recruiting...but in recruiting you want what's at the other end of the spectrum. Maybe he just had it backwards. Or maybe he thought it was schedule bad teams and recruit bad players so it's less noticeable how bad they are. Or maybe...whoops, just spilled Diet Coke all over my flash cards.

Crean's recruiting drove me insane as a fan of recruiting. Some of the things he did seemed so out of the ordinary.

It was more maddening that he would land a Zeller, Vonleh, Blackmon and the occasional diamonds like OG, Will, and Vic.

It gave you hope but then the overall results were always a couple players short. His misses and offers extended were extraordinary.

His recruiting seemed to be dipping even more the past few years.

As we are seeing with the 2018 kids, he didn't appear to be in good standing with many of those either.

If at any point in my life I can be that ripped, I will die a happy man

These days, a decade after hitting 40, I wouldn't mind a body like Priller...
