Memo to Jim Sterk:  I know how you can save $80,000.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — The University of Missouri will pay $80,000 to a search firm helping the university find a new men's basketball coach.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2njdWZV ) the university released details of its contract with the Parker Executive Search firm on Monday.

The fee doesn't include direct expenses, which are capped at $9,600. The contract also doesn't include costs for such things as committee travel and background investigations, which will be billed separately.

Athletic Director Jim Sterk has said the school is using the search firm primarily to provide confidentiality to candidates.

One place that Tom Crean will not be the coach next year:

South Florida will hire Brian Gregory as its next head basketball coach, per sources. Former HC at both Dayton and Georgia Tech.

Aren't there at least a handful of other schools that have openings who would love to have Crean? I'm hoping we don't have to think there are only one or two schools Crean would go for, in turn limiting the chances of him being gone...(considering Glass seems so adamant in him finding a landing place instead of just getting it over with and firing him). There's another part of me that thinks once our season is officially over, he will then announce he is gone and just hasn't done it yet since we still have another game to play.

I agree again but it was a very extreme move, further setting himself up even more for the ridicule.

Somewhat disagree.  1.  Less students in attendance would reduce the toxicity drastically, there would be more families and young children.  2.  If they made tickets somewhat affordable, I don't think they'd have any issue filling it to the standard attendance level.

Ha, of course! I will say though, if we end up finding out that Crean accepted a job at Missouri, I will gladly accept his insult.

I'll answer that rhetorical question:

• Because the fan base was far, far less pissed off back then.
• Because Glass realizes this, and is trying to save the players and Tom Crean from embarrassment and resentment.
• Because the players want to keep playing.
• Because maybe, Glass wants to let Crean fade away after nine years without the memory of his last AH game as a bad one.
• Because Glass had NO good choices with this NIT appearance.

Yep. When people are saying his base offer was like $1.5 million being offered with incentives that is just stupid. What team is going to come at a man with a base at $3.2 and ask him to leave for a paycut that large? Crean and Glass have taken a beating on here and elsewhere based on very little fact. His coaching sucks, but the rumors going on that everyone wants to lynch those two on are probably 98% false.

Ready for this to be over. If Crean is back because he couldnt find another job, WOW! What does that say about Crean, Glass and the state of the program? Hoping for a different outcome.

Who sets the market? He did. Whether or not others feel he is overpaid doesn't matter. He can walk into any interview knowing he won't be offered a 30-50% decrease in pay. The fact that anyone truly believes this could happen is crazy. Mizzou or any other school wouldn't waste their time or his. It's like us going after Billy D. If that is true or not I truly don't know. But we wouldn't contact him unless we are willing to meet or come close to his current contract. Does anyone truly think we would walk into negotiations saying, "We will offer you $4.2?" No with negotiations you first find out if there is interests. You run a pitch to said person. Then if there is mutual interest you find out what their expectations are with pay for not only yourself, but assistants as well, plus recruiting budgets. From there negotiations occur. You don't start with a 30% pay decrease if you are interested in the person.

I think we counted upwards of 19 jobs open yesterday. Certainly, Crean could find one of them.
