I think you guys are confusing apologist with the position they are in. Alex Bozich for instance is not tied to a major paper. To get credentials he had to be very careful to not ruffle feathers. He has enough tenure to have a say now. 247 is no different as were we. Sometimes for the greater good of the site you have to suppress your own feelings to get on campus.

I wouodnt be shocked if there are ppl from the athletic dept on these boards and post pro Crean stuff. Sometimes thats the only explanation for a defense. He literally has done nothing to deserve suck blind loyalty, unless your job is dependent upon his.

It goes beyond the writers on a site like this. They don't want us to use them as say a window. Since we have higher notoriety due to being at the pressers we are more likely to have a following. Long story short they want places like us to be a mouthpiece. They wouldn't have wasted their time without the followers 41 had on social media. We have had that issue on our random sites. You would all be surprised at how much mods are like you. Once we lost Hutch we weren't getting renewed on our credentials and at that point it was f it. Glad because when they dangle credentials over your head you have to semi force the mood. That is why ITH is the way it is. Alex is a good writer. He isn't stupid or oblivious.

I don't think they care THAT much. I think they just care about their brand. You have a group like this where everything gets plastered on social media and I think they have concerns about people being swayed. Social Media is fairly new still. I am sure their models don't have a grasp as to what a few thousand people's thoughts that get plastered onto social media to an even larger audience does to their bottom line.

I couldn't do it.  I get trying to use these sites to their advantage, but at the same time these boards are meant for discussion.  They may not always like the direction, but it's a board serving it's intended purpose.

Correct, but the more viewers you get, the more revenue for (sometimes) upgrades. Sometimes the revenue isn't great like over the summer. You have to bank some to be able to keep it going. Everyone is trying to get their own out of something IU has which was credentials. Understandable from all sides, but it was a fine line from the position I was in that got old. HSN was the only site I was a part of we didn't worry about that at some point or were asked to be salesmen when weren't getting paid. The only good reason to be a mod was due to the convos on the mod board and CCG going off on Bossman lol.

So I went over to the old 247 neighborhood, even after that clusterf--- of a game last night HTD is still defending Crean.  Along with a certain mod that tries to silence any and all criticism of his beloved Tom Crean.

That guy makes that site unreadable for me. (HTD)

That place is a clown show.  Lots of guys who somehow believe they're important because they have 20,000 posts on a free chat board and claim to be connected.  Facts never matter with them, and they're very self important.  One in particular has a comical God complex and very thin skin.  (I would even bet he reads this and posts something here or there in relatialtion.)

I post over there occasionally, but my browser doesn't seem to like that site for some reason, so I'm usually over here. What I don't like is how you can't even make typical Purdue jokes without the Purdue fan who lives on that board getting all hot and bothered by it and other posters always having his back.
