The problem is, I think alot of fans think you bring a new coach in, and we are in the National Championship. There are still some folks who think this is 1987.

The last thing this program needs is to bring in a new coach, there are some struggles, then we are calling for the guy's head. I'm not willing to sacrifice the progress that has been made since Sampson.

This is bullsh*t and the type of fear-mongering that turns a first-rate program into a second-rate program. There are always going to be people who aren't wild about what the coach does, or think he's not getting the most out of his team. After 9 years of Crean, I think you'd be surprised how much more relaxed the fanbase would be for the next couple years if we landed a good coach. Now, if we're seeing lingering problems in his fourth or fifth season? Different story. But again…we'll never know if we just stay the course. If you want to walk on water, you have to get out of the boat.

As long as people are willing to accept some growing pains and the potential that there may be some rebuilding and it may take a few years to get to where this team needs to be, I'm all for it. The problem is, I think alot of fans think you bring a new coach in, and we are in the National Championship. There are still some folks who think this is 1987.

It's not just this season.  He's been here nearly a decade and the same problems have plagued every team, problems that, according to Marquette fans when he was hired, plagued his teams at Marquette as well.  That means he's been coaching for nearly 20 years and his teams routinely have the exactly same issues and lose for the exact same reasons, that is 100% on his coaching.

It's not about struggles in one season, it's a totality.  It's the culmination of nearly a decade here (and almost 2 in total) of little to no improvement on the problems that always cause his team to lose. It's looking at his history and realizing these 'struggles' are closer to the norm then the exception.  We know what he is, and he really hasn't improved at all.  What he is and what he's shown in almost 10 years, unless you lower the bar which should absolutely unequivocally never be done under normal circumstances, is not good enough and is not what he's paid to do.

Also Kansas has been ranked in top 25 since 2009.

We can't even stay on top 25 with one of Creans most talented teams

"But, but we're young and there's no leaders on this team and we don't have a point guard and our post presence needs to showcase his perimeter game."

"Wait, I'm responsible for those things? Give me $4 mil a year and an even larger buyout and I promise I'll get it done. It's Indiana, it's Indiana"

He needs to go back to a mid major. What university is close to Cedar Point? I'm sure the older generation of roller coaster enthusiasts would enjoy the ride where the highs aren't too high and the lows not too low.

I'm on the fire him wagon aswell.

But..

If he is fired it's going to be bad pub imo. Winning the big last year and losing Hartman, og, and juwan for some games will be brought up, you can believe that.

The talking heads seem to like crean and I just see it looking bad for IU if we do indeed let him go.

Who cares. I think IU will be MUCH better off getting rid of a mediocre coach and starting fresh. The media can say what they want to say, in the end it will benefit us and that's all that matters

I have seen some on this board call Self's program dirty, or tarnished if you please. Are we ready for that?

You think Tom Crean is an angel? He hired  a person to open the Indy Elite pipeline. Against the rules? No. But neither is hiring Mario Chalmers dad.

You dont think IU plays the shoe game like everyone else? Sure they do. Anyone who reruits at a decent level of success has a layer of dirt on them.

Hell, look at Creans mentor and the Dawson recruitment and how they got him away from Purdue. You dont think Crean learned any tricks from izzo?

Not personally, there's been plenty of shade on KU in the recent past. Not anything like UNC, Syracuse, UL, puke, or Dook level stuff but enough not to want any part of that.

With our luck Self will do the same exact thing he's doing at Kansas "if he is doing anything wrong" and He'll get caught at IU and we'll receive the death penalty lol

The NCAA didnt hammer IU for Sampson. IU hammered IU for Sampson. Sampson also killed IU by recruiting kids who didnt go to class and were into drugs. The NCAA actually does very little to major programs that dont flat out pay players with cash in fedex boxes.

Crean also visited Gary Harris during a non-contact period.  I call bull on him not knowing when the contact period ended.  Do I care that he committed a secondary violation, not really, but let's be real that it was intentional.  Not even Crean is 'clean', no one is.

You dont know the hand he was dealt. We are so young and have been so young for 9 years. Give the guy a break its a snow rebuild.
