I think you have to assume his 1st choices are Stevens and Donovan.  Hell, he may even be considering Hoiberg.

The Hoiberg experiment is going HORRIBLE in Chicago. So it's not a stretch to think that he will return to college. I believe that he is a good coach but I'm not sold on him being OUR guy.

My worst fear is that we will run out of viable options and start pressing. IUBB can't afford to settle this time around. Whoever we hire has to be a home run, hell a grand slam. I want nothing more then to stick it too pUKe and PUke fans who think that we are irrelevant. I just wish that we had some inside info.

Did that sound like a guy who was forced to fire Crean yesterday? I don't think so...

I don't know. The rumors of having that booster meeting Wednesday night and Fred claiming he made the decision overnight seems a little fishy..

I'm pretty sure this has been an idea of his for a few weeks now maybe like rumored, but those rumors leading up to the announcement just really go hand in hand.

Yep. I'm in southern Indiana and work in Louisville. Card and cat fans are despicable human beings. Hopefully the tables have turned.

One of my old friends who's a UL fan jokingly posted on my Facebook age that we we're going to rehire Davis. I posted back that everything I had heard, pointed towards Tony Bennett.Thats not true but his response was priceless.Oh F__k ,He owns us.They've had way to much fun at our expense and its time to turn the table on them and their blue clad toothless cousins.

Yeah but your narrative you're so certain of doesn't hold much water either. I think a lot of people jumped to conclusions/actually listened to recker regarding Fred Glass' stance on Crean.

You're right though, the whole thing was odd.

The program isn't currently elite, but this is 100% no question an elite job. I've seen a lot of media people argue that.

I fully agree with this.

Our facilities are some of the best, Assembly Hall is still one of the best/loudest venues in college basketball, Bloomington is a great college town and basketball is king at IU so as long as we keep up with all those things - the job will be elite for a long time.

I wonder if Billy D asked for so much money that Glass was going to ride it out with Crean. Then the trustees got involved and told him no. So the meeting with boosters to raise money for Billy.

Thats my hope at least

Like it or not - they aren't wrong.

Just bc we have 5 banners hanging doesn't give us elite status for life. It just means we have a great history.

We haven't done jack diddly poo since. So no, we aren't elite. That's why we fired our coach. Consistently winning in the name of the game to get back there. I wouldn't count Gonzaga in that group, tho. That's a bit of a stretch.

No reason we can't get 25-30 wins a year on a consistent basis

Yes, and with that context it's time for an "Urban Meyer hire" with the likes of Stevens or Donovan. We need to propel ourselves instantly back into the discussion with Duke, UNC, Kansas and UK.  Period!  Easy to say, hard to do...hopefully Glass is rolling up his sleeves.

Very interesting article from the Indianapolis Business Journal and quotes from people that do get Fred's attention contrary to how some pundits have claimed that it was us little people that got FCTC fired.     [Former Coach Tom Crean]      And FWIW, I had contact with Steve Stitle on more than one occassion when I was gainfully employed many years ago and the man is a straight talker.  Tells it like it is.

Other than the fact that the B1G is usually a strong conference and you'd essentially need to go undefeated during nonconference play to accomplish 25-30 wins every year.

Not really

10-3 non conference

13-5 conference

one win in BTT and 1 win in the NCAA tourney. With our resources looks very reasonable. For some coaches a down year.

I was just listening to idiots on the Radio in Louisville.  Said IU fans were the most delusional fan base in the area and we are not close to an elite program.

I would argue that what makes you elite is a combination of a elite fan base (check), elite facilities (check), elite money (check), and elite coach (TBD). All we need is a coach. The talent and winning will return.

They make it sound as if it is impossible to improve our situation and that it is a zero sum game.  Only KY, UofL, Duke, NC, etc. can be elite and how dare we even try.

Pisses me off!!!!

I was just thinking regular season. For context, Bob Knight only won 25 or more games 8 out of 29 seasons at Indiana... let's keep our expectations reasonable haha. (I know they played fewer games earlier on in his time at IU, but you get my point.)
