Why does everyone hate Alford? I don't know anything about the whole rape deal can someone explain what happened there?

To be honest, nobody is going to lockdown the state. However, they would do as good or better than any other candidate, at least initially.

Im 35, he isnt a terrible coach. Just like Crean isnt a terrible coach. Not my pick but he isnt a terrible coach. Much rather have Marshall, Bennett, etc.

This is correct.  Nobody will lock it down, but whoever the coach is needs to understand you can build a hell of a team that wins consistently if you just recruit kids (from here or anywhere they teach basketball in a fundamental, "you don't all need the ball" way) that understand the game as well as the sport.   It's just not that difficult.

I disagree with this. When people say "lock down" the state they don't literally mean landing every single difference maker.

I will say this about Janitor/ Bball4iu. The style in which they are posting this time has changed considerably. They are posting for attention, before they posted because "Hoosiers need to know what's really going on".

Im not convinced he isnt throwing out smoke screens now. He seems to be connected, maybe the AD figured out who he is and they are smoke screening the fanbase from the real candidate.

I don't think that Alford is a guy who can unite a fractured fan base, and that worries me.

Outside of Brad Stevens and Billy Donovan, there isn't one coach that unites the fan base. Just playing devil's advocate here. There are plenty of coaches who would unite Indiana more than Alford, but none of them will unite everyone.

Not saying IU will hire Alford, but there's one aspect of him that I like:
Instead of "BILLY DONOVAN'S indiana hoosiers"
It would be "THE INDIANA HOOSIERS coached by Steve Alford
That's why I am a fan of Archie, Bennett, and Collins.

This is accurate. My favorite coach in college has been beaten to death by fans on this board. Gregg Marshall. 

Every fan has their own view on style of play, where to recruit, etc.. The next coach will have to get to a final four/banner 6 to unite it.

Would the people OK with Alford be OK with Alford if he didn't play at IU?

I would prefer Billy Donovan, and I agree Alford's stats don't add up. But I think Alford would bring Indiana recruits back to Indiana. I think Alford could have an immensely better record here than he has at any other school. Just an observation.

I am not on the Collins train at all but he is way above Alford for me also
