If the administration wants to bring the program back to dominance they'll go for the home run, knowing the offer everything it takes to win big at this level. If they're okay with mediocrity then they won't. Yep. You have to go for the home run. IU speaks for itself. This place has everything to succeed. And it's a blue blood of NCAA basketball Quote

I'm hoping if this is true (not doubting you), Donovan doesn't harbor any negative feelings towards IU from this for backing out or anything. So this would have been the year we lost to Wichita State in the first round of the tournament, correct? I can actually understand why we didn't pull the trigger that year. It was still too early imo. I don't think it was too early at all. IU got lucky that they were in the tournament in the 2014-2015 season. That was two straight awful years after the Syracuse debacle. It was the perfect time Quote

I'd view it as a very good Plan D hire. And I don't mean that as a slight to him, just that there are other more proven guys we should be targeting before it gets to him. Ryno6284 1 Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Speaking of Fran McCaffrey, he says NO WAY Indiana will fire Crean. Goes on to explain why. 5 losses less than 5 pts. Players playing hard for him. He more or less called the fanbase crazy for how we are reacting. Lol. Who wouldn't want to coach against a guy that studies "coaching" more than he studies "basketball". Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners HoosierAloha and VO5 2 Quote

I think we can do way better as well but there is a reason why his teams were bad before this year. Quote

He's a psychopath. At least he kept his team that was ranked in the top 5 from missing the tournament last year. McCaffery should be happy that basketball is the #2 sport in that season(to wrestling) or he'd be gone too. ALASKA HOOSIER and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote

With regard to his teams not making a tournament, he took over a program that has never made it to the tournament. HoosierAloha Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Donovan would be a program turning statement hire that would have IU competing at a high level. I don't know how he feels about returning to college ball but you'd have to believe he would be interested in Indiana if he were. I see the problem on the other side with IU not willing to do what needs to be done to get Billy the Kid. I think we see a hire in the up and coming tier. Hopefully the people who make the hire have done their homework. Quote

He isn't just one of the best coaches in college but proved he is as well in the NBA where 30 or 40 ex head coaches are assistants that cant even get an NBA job. That shows you one...any NBA coach is talented and two he is one of the best minds in the game.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app thebigweave, AKHoosier, pumpfake and 6 others 9 Quote
