Basically said who are you going to get and threw out Holtman's name. What are you guys thoughts on him? I feel he is unproven and we should be able to do better. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app the mere fact that IU's paying CTC > $3 Mil refutes Greenberg's assertion IMO. Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Bob Knight was "unproven." We do NOT need to go get a guy who's "proven." We need a basketball coach; and there are great ones even at the D3 level. We need a guy who first and foremost can recruit the state of Indiana. Crean has burned a lot of bridges. We need a guy who can coach his team to play different ways against different teams. We need a guy who holds players accountable, sets high expectations, and doesn't make excuses if they are not met. We need a better x and o guy, and someone who can make quality adjustments. Don't care who it is. Edit to this : I don't want "the next hot coach," either. I want the best basketball coach we can find. Ryno6284, Class of '66 Old Fart, Str8Hoosiers and 5 others 8 Quote
JSHoosier Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 I've wanted Crean gone for a couple of years, heck I would've fired him before last season because it was more than warranted. I just can't say I have much faith that Glass/the administration will act like this is a blue blood program with literally every single resource a coach could want. HoosierAloha Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Your right. I never see any mentions of the Noah year or the next year. Just the 2 B1G's. Last year was impressive. Very actually. Beating UK and then having to play UNC right after was a bad bracket. Other teams had upsets and I felt like we played the hardest teams only playing 3 games than most. Last year is literally the only year out of 9 I was happy at the end of the year though with our team. I mean technically Cal comes in each year like Creans first yet he keeps them in the title hunt. It didn't take 3 years to get to even footing for him. Seth Davis is getting on my nerves acting like we won't find someone better. I would be stoked with Stevens, Billy D, Bennett, Archie, Collins or Mack and happy with probably 3 or 4 more guys. We will be fine. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile appI was happy after the 2011-2012 season. I thought if that team progressed over the summer and were playing their best ball at the end of the year a title was attainable. The problem was the 2012 class didn't provide the depth I thought and Crean ran them into the ground late in the year. Ryno6284 1 Quote

IMO I've only been happy with 1 season out of 9 for Crean, and that was 2011-2012, his first year with Zeller. Every other year was a disappointment IMO. I don't think he ever exceeded expectations. For last year I believe he achieved expectations, but I was still disappointed in him because Crean scheduled such a weak non-con, pus was unable to reschedule a game against UK, which forced us into a terrible seed in the tourney. I firmly believe had we scheduled better as played UK, we would have been in a different bracket and possibly made it to the elite 8. Overall though, 1 out of 9 years where he achieved expectations and never went beyond is such a disappointment for me. Quote

If iu doesn't lose to 3 +125 rpi teams last year they would of gotten a better seed. It's not always about who you beat because iu beat enough good teams to warrant a higher seed it was about the teams they lost to last yearSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners HoosierAloha 1 Quote

I guess to a larger point I'm trying to make is that if the next coach at IU can schedule a legit non-con, restart the UK rivalry, recruit Indiana, and play defense, limit turnovers and play fundamental basketball, then that new coach is a home run hire IMO. Issues seem easy to fix, and if so, I don't think I'll be disappointed season after season. Alford Bailey 1 Quote

He's tried to turn those highs into something they were not and tried to excuse the lows on others. He'll be a better fit where they only realize they have a basketball program when it does well and focuses on football when they suck. Hoosier_roots 1 Quote

That season, we cut down the nets after a home loss to OSU. Embarrassing. Michigan collapsed in the last minute which is the only reason we won the BIG outright. Also should have lost to temple in round of 32 if it wasn't for the "watblock" and a clutch shot by Vic. That team had so much promise and faded near the end. 2011-12 was the only year I've been happy with an IU team under crean. southernindianahoosier and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote
