In the upcoming 2017 class, #iubb offered scholarships to 21 out of the top 50 ranked players.

Yep if the top players are going to get thrown under a bus they at least want a chance to win 3 straight postseason games. Creans inability to actually coach has neutered his recruiting ability.

We need to go full court press for Billy Donovan. IF there is any chance at all.

Agreed if he really wants to come back to college we are one of a few schools that would be able to afford him. I will be livid if we don't make a run and he ends up at UK in a year or two

Someone needs to photoshop Crean driving a bus.  With is "it's not my fault" mentality it'll be needed.

I think he'd be a great fit....somewhere else.  Somewhere where they won't care that he doesn't know much about the game he's paid millions to coach.

Was assembly hall that empty ever under Davis for a big ten game? I don't recall.

And his willingness to take 1,000 wings instead of addressing team needs, see: point guard and bigs.

I'm so tired of the excuses. Here is a FB from someone who graduated from my HS. He is currently a HS basketball coach so to be fair he isn't a basketball dummy, but still

" My 2 cents on Tom Crean and firing him. His players aren't good, aren't talented (outside of a couple), and they play with no heart. Yeah part of that is his fault, but what can a coach do when your big man, who was supposed to be a stud, is soft, your best scoring guard can't stay healthy, your leader goes down, and your best player plays a very shortened season. You take any other coach in NCAA and give them this team, they wouldn't make much of a difference. You're a year removed from losing on of the best PG's in school history and a wing that has produced in the NBA. Talent wins games, not just coaching. "

I just don't get this after all we have seen the last 6 seasons.

Davis totally flipped out and missed a game "illness" when it was coming to an end. Wonder how this will play out?

No offense to him, but I think that post is crap. We still have more talent on the roster than most teams we play. We have 2 McDonald's All Americans and some high 4 stars. If it was true that we don't have talent then that's on Crean. He picks these guys and he's supposedly a 'great recruiter'. Yogi was a senior. Crean knew he was leaving and didn't have a replacement lined up. That's on him. The fact they play without heart is a reflection of the coach leading them. Again, that's on him. It seems like the Crean defenders still don't want to put any of the blame on him. I don't know what it is about Crean that has them so enamoured.

Crean DID have a replacement for Yogi... still does. Josh Newkirk IS his guy. He got him from Pittsburgh, coached him through his "sit out" year, talked him up like he was the 2nd coming... and this is what we get. So Crean has his Yogi replacement, it's just that, well, Newkirk, is NOT a Yogi prospect, despite the great recruiter's opinion.

That's true.. The fact he expected a guy who averaged 6 points on 38% shooting at Pittsburgh to replace someone like Yogi is a testament to his recruiting abilities. And now that it's not working out he's too stubborn to admit he was wrong and try something else.

One thing I would like to point out concerning injuries, talent level, etc.: We've all complained, going back to the J. Rivers seasons, that "this team has the lowest basketball IQ".  If his teams consistently play careless, stupid ball it can mean only one of two things - bad recruiting or bad teaching/coaching.  And both are the sole responsibility of one man, and that's the head basketball coach.

I don't take any joy in wishing for a new coach.  IMO, coach Crean has worked very hard and dedicated himself to the team's success.  Sadly, it's clear that his best is not good enough for either the expectations of the fans or the salary he is being paid. I do feel bad for the guy, but he knows what the expectations were/are.
