I'm with you on that. If Crean is back, then Glass should be queationed and his seat should also be on the line.

I can tell you a few things, as I watch UD basketball second to IU (went to Dayton and lived in the area for 6-7 years before moving south).  Archie started his first 2 yrs at UD with 20-13 and 17-14 and hasn't won less than 25 since. He has the EE run that ppl point to, but also a remarkably similar curve upwards in his teams record, both in total wins and conference (7-9, 10-6, 13-5, 14-4).  He coaches D at a high level, with his team's adj D finishing at 31, 15, and 22(current year).  He's led UD to the best 3 year winning stretch in program history and will likely lead them to their 4 straight NCAA appearance (something CTC has NEVER done btw).  Factor in the roster challenges he has faced in the last few years (one year he had no one over 6'6 due to kicking some gents to the curb) and you start to see why he's an up and coming coach many are excited about.

Love Archie. Has the name, the pedigree, and is solid in both recruiting and in game coaching. He's a future star. He's a better game coach than his brother Sean.

I watched the Dayton game last night and while it was one game (I'll give it another game or two) I was not impressed. At one point I really thought I was watching a Crean coached game. Offense looked shockingly similar in design. It was better executed than IU normally does but still not thrilled with it. Defense was ok but not spectacular. Overall just seemed marginally better than what we have with a very similar style (which I don't like). Don't get me wrong though, I will take him over Crean but so far he would be down the list. I will watch more games as tournament approaches and give him more of a chance but was not that impressed after one game.

I have witnessed 28 years of SC basketball now, so I will give my $.02. Martin is a good man although his ethics have been questioned while coaching high school ball in Miami. He gave his players $. He has been suspended for his sideline abuse and profanity, which occurred a year or two ago. He's a good coach and has run off talented players who had off court issues normally to the tune of 2-3 per year. He got spanked by UK this year and recently lost a 4 OT game at home to the powerful UGA Bulldogs. He has never lead the Cocks to a NCAA birth although they should make it this year. He won at Kansas State with Huggins players and has never recruited the Midwest. Bottom line...He would be a huge upgrade to our current, but way down my list of others. I would put him as a C candidate.

I've been watching UD ball since Brian Gregory was there and I went to school up that way.  I've seen Archie the past 5+ years.  Not sure how you come to your conclusion after watching 1 game, but to each their own.  Wherever Archie ends up after leaving UD, he'll turn that program into a perennial tourney team and make good runs due to the way he has his teams play defense.  While I'd still like Marshall or Bennett over him, he's high up on my list as one of the better young coaches in college basketball.

I know I know I'm living in the past but I LOVED having a coach that has DEMANDING passion.  I've always liked Frank Martin because like said above, closest coaching personality to Coach Knight there is today.  Gimme some of that kinda coach back on the sidelines please.

I would also feel great about him being our next coach. If you give him the resources available at Indiana, he would succeed and may be our next Bob Knight. I would list him at the top or near top of my B candidates. My A candidates are Stevens, Donovan, and Hoiberg.

I can completely agree with what you said. It was just one game and there are many factors at play, just the one thing that jumped out at me was that at one point I really thought I could be watching a current Crean coached game and didn't like that. I will say the execution was better but the style was too familiar. I think he will be a really good coach but not sure if he'll ever win a NCAA championship. He may consistently be in the tourney and make some runs, just not sure he'll get over hump. But, I could be wrong.

I've stated my top 3 current college coaches I would want and that's Bennett, Archie Miller and Marshall. I'm torn on Bennett and Archie though. I think either of those would be better than Marshall. That's not to say I wouldn't welcome Marshall but I do think Tony Bennett and Archie Miller would be better suited for IU

Just curious...why? I prefer Archie and a few others, but other than the over the top intensity, Martin can really coach a disciplined team.

In 4 1/2 seasons coaching in the terrible SEC, he's never made the NCAAs, finished 11th or worse twice.

He's even worse than Crean.

Better get used to names being thrown out there that dont seem logical. I do think Martin is a step above Crean but clearly wouldnt be in the fans top group.

If I could sum up Frank Martin with one point, it would be this: Miami basketball didn't want him.

He was asked to leave KSU because of his attitude and he never did anything special record-wise either at KSU or SC. He is known for crossing the line over and over again in how he treats players, he schedules terrible non-conference opponents, he is not a great recruiter and he never took either KSU or SC to any kind of title or deep in the tournament. (1 EE and that's the only time out of the first weekend). IU will have proven to be at a new low of Martin were hired. He would raise money and his antics would grow old quickly. The thought that his name has surfaced should make all IU fans reconsider the state of the program. Before any IU fan considers a coach of Martin's caliber or person with his character they should do some research.

Crean has sucked the life out of this fanbase. There are plenty of upgrades out there and Glass needs to secure one of them asap.

I will be so pissed if he gets an extension, he continues to shit the bed and then when we finally go to make a change we are the 2nd or 3rd best option for coaches that given year due to coach K, Williams etc etc moving on.

If we make a move this year we will most definitely be the most sought after college job available
