Because this isn't a topic for defending Crean. The anti Crean people were told to keep their frustrations in here so as not to disrupt the board but the pro Creab people weren't held to the same standard

As a mod then it wasn't. Mods joked about doing that because of convos behind the scenes, and that became our running joke on the main board.

As for the other part, even during the bowl game many posts were about Crean or people were "venting" there after the Nebraska game. It's every thread. Recruiting, games, football. Every thread turns into a Crean bashing. I don't want him as our coach, but as someone that doesn't dwell on this stuff for very long that gets old when that's every thread.

Lol it's a Crean thread on a ******* discussion board. Not a whine about everything with no counter-arguments allowed thread. Recruit profile threads aren't that. That's why this thread was created. Yell about Crean all you want, just don't get mad if someone shows a little support in here.

If we started a "Keep Tom Crean" thread, you know there would be people in there shouting that that's a stupid idea. Exact same thing.

I get the frustrations on here for sure. I have them too. Just seems like some come out of the woodwork when we lose to a Nebraska or IPFW screaming "FIRE CREAN" from the hilltops and aren't really around other than that.

From purely a basketball perspective, we were awful yesterday.

The same typical problems that Creans teams have faced.

-substitutions atrocious. (Timing)
-TOs
-live and die by 3.
-allow dribble drive ALL game.
-miscommunication on D.
-soft on D and O.
-awful decision making in crunch time and after timeouts.
-let runs go 5-7 points too long before taking TOs.


-Sadly, Blackmon was on most of Nebraska's offensive highlights. Blackmon was bad in crunchtime.

We don't recruit well enough to just "roll the ball out". Especially in games where we don't want to defend. These trends continue time after time.

Hit shots, and play D with energy and cohesion we are a great team.
Can't always count on just out shooting teams, particularly when we are prone to OVERhelping on D and allowing wide open looks.

Also, if that IPFW loss didn't wake this team up I don't know what will. That IPFW loss was/is a national embarrassment.

We don't play D with conviction unless we are down 10. Can't stand it.

Crean is great at developing players. Developing in game adjustments? No. Sure, the wins vs Kentucky, UNC, Kansas and the likes are nice, but even more impactful are the consistent, boneheaded losses every single year. If you're satisfied with getting bounced every year in the Sweet Sixteen, good for you, but as a fan of a great blue blood, I expect more. He's had plenty of time and a great chance with the top ranked team to do something special and didn't. We can't keep making excuses for him, I think something needs to change or we will never be a legit title contender.

Very generous, but if this team lays another egg in the next two games, we'll be on the path of above averagism along with the Virginia's, West Virginia's, Arizona's, and I don't think any IU fan wants a coach, who they don't trust in bringing them to the F4 and beyond. At this point it's just the options available out there.

Are we on Zona's level right now? That would be generous. I don't know how many PAC12 regular season and conference tourneys they've won but they've had more success in the big tourney recently. Virginia has a better than average coach that will win consistently in a loaded ACC.

Do you really feel ostracized? Persecuted? I mean, really, tell me. If you don't want to do it here PM me and we'll have that conversation.

I'm pretty sure we leave everyone alone unless it starts bleeding into the recruiting threads and even then we let it go for the most part until I get a PM about it. I don't think we've handed out a warning point in months. Could be wrong about that but I don't think I am.

The anti-crean stuff is everywhere and WE get it. It isn't like a lot of us don't understand he isn't the ultimate answer.

This. If I have something I want to do I go do it. I have missed more games the last 2-3 years then I have in probably the 15-20 years before that. Used to if I missed a game I would dvr it and watch it when I got home or use a vcr and record it in the older days and now I don't.

Brass is a disgruntled fan. Brass is voicing his opinion. Brass does it in a fair manner.

People that post about "negative/often true" remarks regarding our program get "attacked/mocked/etc"" by a team of 4 or 5.
It has always been this way. I am sure he feels the same way I feel as a poster when these things happen. I am posting less because of it.

I fully understand when it bleeds into individual recruiting pages, especially ad naseum.

This is a great point and why even the detractors pull for Crean to put it all together.

One could argue we won it 1 year due to having the most favorable road and the Blackmon injury forcing his hand.

The other team was just a great team, and Zeller was a force.

I still pull for Crean, but trends are continuous and frustrating. Those years we won the big ten, could/should have been better post season runs with better coaching (maybe?)
Indiana fans, including myself, have ridiculous expectations. Duke, Kentucky, Kansas like results.
