Trish Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Perfect opportunity to hush the doubters. UK. UNC. Those are the types of teams we expect to be. Beat them. Noise quiets. I agree, beat those teams and this thread can go ahead and be locked for a month. Would be major wins for his resume and of course for the team. But lose in the first weekend this up-coming weekend.. oh boy... 8bucks, MikeRoberts, WayneFleekHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

hoosierpap Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 As certain as most of you are that Tom Crean's coaching history limits his ability to exceed his current accomplishments, I am equally certain that beating UK, and UNC will not quite any of you. Not a disclaimer, but just calling it how I see it. Andrew_114, Stuhoo, mamasa and 4 others 7 Quote

Not a disclaimer, but just calling it how I see it. Some will still not like him when that happens. Many like me jumped from the support ship a couple years back and would love to be won back. I don't think Crean is a great coach but if can find a way to get into the tourney every year then I think he may be able to have a few deep runs. Make the deep run this year and find some way to be a regular contender for the BT title and many of us will be good. WayneFleekHoosier and Class of '66 Old Fart 2 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I'd have to grudgingly acknowledge that if CTC can get us past pUKe and UNoClasses he deserves to keep his job -- at least for 1 more year. But he better get us past Choo Choo for sure. 8bucks, CrossboneIU22, ALASKA HOOSIER and 1 other 4 Quote

8bucks Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 A lot of us said we would know more about TC and his abilities after this year. This tournament is set up well for him to help overcome some doubts. No more excuses. Let's go win some games Alford Bailey and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

Popular Post TrueHoosier62 Posted March 14, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2016 The chances of IU beating in succession, Chattanooga, Kentucky, & North Carolina, are such that it stretches the limits of mathematic probabilities. I would love to imagine that scenario, but my imagination isn't that strong. colonel06, ALASKA HOOSIER, FortWayneHoosier and 5 others 8 Quote

That being said, there are going to be some upsets that open up the road to the Final Four for which ever team can just take care of business. The odds we have to face UK, UNC, etc. is low. HoosierTrav Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I want so bad to believe that we can make a final four.....then I realize that we would have to win 4 straight games away from assembly hall against very high level comp in each game....Is it more reasonable to expect this to happen, given Tom Crean's career body of work in post seasons? Or is it more reasonable to expect a loss in one of the 1st 3 games? We all know the answer to this. It's still not going to stop me from being engaged and rooting for IU to make a run. I just cannot let myself have high expectations. I'd have much more confidence if we wouldn't have Purdue Person'd our pants in the B1G tourney. I would gladly trade regular season championships for post season accolades. The best programs perform in March. We are not one of these programs until we prove it with something other than regular season championships. Trish, Hoosier42bbq, ALASKA HOOSIER and 2 others 5 Quote

VO5 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Since when do past failures prevent future success? They don't, however, past failures can be a pretty solid indicator of what the future holds. We can go on a run, but everything about Crean's teams prior to this year tell us it's unlikely to happen. I think everyone is just preparing for the worst because it is what we are used too now, and until we can consistently go deep in the tourney it will be this way. you can't blame really blame fans for that. mamasa, 323SGrant, Hoosier42bbq and 3 others 6 Quote
