Bittersince87 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I think this team is final four good as well. If we can't get past the sweet sixteen , I'm going to be depressed. Quote
Uspshoosier Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I agree with DD and Greenburg that IU is final four good. I thought we had final four talent in the preseason, but it took a bit for the team to hit its stride. Now I'm believing if the team continues on playing well, then we could have the conference and a final four appearance.as do i Quote
mdn82 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I know you are but what am I? :103:It would make me laugh. I will say that. It's been a constant convo since he came back from his 4 bannings. southsidehoosier Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 That's what I do know of him. Pitt fans were not sad to see him leave. And Michigan fans weren't sad to see Bielfeldt go either....that turned out well for us. mamasa, VO5, JaybobHoosier and 2 others 5 Quote
Trish Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Regardless of this championship and coach of the year award, I'm still not sold on him being the coach to get us to the promise land. His seat went from red hot to a nice cool Michigan lake blue. However, if we can't get pass the first weekend of the dance...... Napleshoosier, CrossboneIU22, ALASKA HOOSIER and 1 other 4 Quote

Bryan Medema Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I gave up in frustration after we beat ND. Seeing our defense play that poorly offended my sensibilities of how the game should be played- I didn't give a damn that we'd won. I truly believe that explosive offense is an intuitive skill certain players have (Yogi for ex.), but that efficient offense and engaged defense is the burden of the coach to instill. We had great offensive talent but no organization on either end. My point is that I felt CTC just couldn't coach. What's followed during B1G play has been a revelation and, much as I believe the personnel we are compelled to roll out without JBJ helps, it's clear that CTC has managed to wrap his head around coaching defense. Next year's team could be a defensive stalwart with good enough offense. The irony is that next year will test CTC's chops with organizing a defense that can't rely on a single, explosive lynchpin. If the CTC that has proven an ability to organize a team on both ends of the court further fulfills the expectations, I'm all in. JaybobHoosier, HoosierAloha and ThompsonHoosier 3 Quote

jmsgws Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 The coaching job is certainly one of "what have you done for me lately" views. In that regard Coach Crean has delivered so far this year. The vast majority of us thought the season was lost after Maui and the Duke game. Since that point in time, though, the team has really come together. I know we are towards the end of the season, but Heaven Forbid. IU loses the next 4 games. We will be right back at the FIre Tom Crean discussions. Let's just wait for the entire season to unfold. Btownhoosier25 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Gary Parrish Indiana just clinched a share of the Big Ten title. That’s 2 in the past 4 years for Tom Crean. IU won only 1 in the 15 years pre-Crean. Perspective. Pretty impressive to say the least. Quote
TrueHoosier62 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I can admit that a Big Ten championship is nice, and a 23-6 record is nice, but that's all it is; "nice". The problem of course is that we didn't buy "nice" when we brought in Tom Crean. We brought in a coach that supposedly had/has what is takes to win an NCAA championship. To date, that hasn't happened. Nor, given the type of players and game philosophy he's beholden to, does it appear likely. Until he does, "nice" doesn't cut it with me. Until then, he's Gene Keady, Lou Henson, and That Matta rolled in to one. Until then, this thread should stay open. Napleshoosier, Bittersince87 and CrossboneIU22 3 Quote
coonhounds Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 People are getting way ahead of themselves this season isn't over and we could still share the title 4 ways which imo is as good as a loss. Not to mention most of us were disappointed in the end results with crean teams which is in debate until the end of march. I agree it feels good now but still plenty of time to go back to disappointment Quote

What is up for debate? You don't fake your way to a Big Ten title. I don't care what the SOS was. Indiana dominated their opponents, for the most part. There are two games left. Two. This is real. No debating whether this team can contend. Quote
