TOM CREAN FIRED

Recommended Posts

Those 3 wins were hardly a gauge of anything except Crean's ability to schedule cupcakes. If THAT's the curve that we are grading CTC on, we might as well pack in it right now.

I don't think he's being serious.  I have a very hard time thinking anyone in the fanbase is that much of a Crean homer at this point.

They took the job that paid them more money in no world is that a paycut.

That's not even accurate. The Cavs could have offered James more money than anyone in the League. But instead he chose to go play with talent.

The point being made here is: players have Maximum contracts. The HEAT players took less than Max contracts. HOWEVER, Florida does not have INCOME TAX, so therefore, depending on the numbers, the less than Max contracts could be worth more money in the pocket than a max contract.

I believe this was true for the big 3.

are you guys talking salaries only or including brand value?

There is no question at all that the big three in Miami's overall brand value went up by winning championships in Miami vs playing for the cavs or raptors

We are talking the contracts they signed

They took less money than what they could have. I truly don't understand what's so hard to understand. They didn't take as much money as they could have.

So if your boss comes to you and cuts your pay you still didn't take a pay cut because you're still making more than you would've in another state that has a higher income tax? If you truly believe that then I'm wasting my time with that kind of logic.

cool, not a tax expert. Just curious if other elements were being considered outside of salary. They are all going to be better suited to make money for the rest of their lives due to the championships they won, salary increase or decrease

Exactly. And it was talked about constantly when it happened.

Yes Dalton, you can take substantially less money in Florida and still net more dollars vs the max contract in Ohio simply due to taxes.

Thanks for adding something we all already knew, but adding nothing in terms of what's being said.

Fact of the matter is they took less than what they could've made in Miami which means they took a paycut in Miami. Plain and simple. It doesn't matter how hard either of you try to warp this to fit your argument. It's a fact.

You guys realize you're just arguing pedantic semantics, right? You don't fundamentally disagree, so who really cares?

So let's talk about when we'll be rid of Crean.

I believe the original argument was Stevens could net considerable more money even if he didn't get a raise coming back to Indiana due to cost of living ect. Lets give him a raise to boot and sign him up !

I keep saying his name because I have some personal experience with him, but I know he will never even get a look at IU. Still I will say his name and hope somebody gives me some props one day when he does take over a big time program.

*Ray Harper*

Great Coach.

2 - NAIA National Championships and another Runner-up in only 3 years as a NAIA coach.

2 - D2 National Championships

4 - D2 Natinoal Runner-up

accomplished these 6 Championship game appearances in 9 seasons as a D2 coach

2 - Tournament appearances w/ 7 point loss to #1 Kansas in 2013

3 - 20+ wins every year he has been in D1.

Again, I know that this will never happen, but look at his current team. They are 4-4 and the team is very mediocre. Revisit this post at the end of the season and tell me if their team got better or worse by March.

Sounds like a Bo Ryan. IU would never go for that.
