Love it. Also got to say, a 6’5” rising Soph who doesn’t look like an early physically maturing kid in any way is probably gonna be more like a 6’7”, 6’8” kid by the time he hits a college campus.3 points -

Did not see that coming, though if the goal is to be a McDAA playing at a smallish school outside Springfield, MO probably doesn’t make it happen.2 points -

Unable to do a thorough job with an initial post for an offer. Following my weekend in Vegas with Sorsby and Diego, @Hovadipo felt I had besmirched the integrity of the mods (as if that’s possible) and put me on super secret probation limiting my posting capabilities. No idea how long that will last, but I’ve got to tell you that watching Sorsby placing bets on what article of clothing the stripper would shed next and Diego trying to tuck a buck and only being able to reach their shoes makes it all worthwhile. Meanwhile we offered Mohler on his UV. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/early-in-state-name-to-know-for-class-of-2029-micah-mohler-visiting-iu-basketball/1 point -

Would imagine after U17 tryouts, Top 100 camp and Chris Paul’s PG camp basically back to back to back he just looked in the mirror and thought, “ I need this kind of work all the time.” LaLu has Devin Cleveland this year and he was supposedly a priority target for Dusty this class. That kid’s really good and they’ll make each other better.1 point -

Honestly really surprised to see this. The kid is right down the road from me and I know some folks at his school. They were a really tight knit group and he was getting a lot of pressure to stay to graduation. No doubt the best situation for Indiana and his development.1 point -

I saw his aunt post something on Facebook about the offer with a ton of old picture of Micah at games and camps with IU gear on (pictures with TJD and others). While nothing is guaranteed this seems to be one of those layups IU has missed in the past. Show the kid a plan and keep recruiting hard and this one should be a layup1 point -

Really good paywalled Raby story on Mohler. Quoted saying we are his dream school, grew up wanting to be a Hoosier and attended games when he was little. His mom, hs coach and AAU coach were with him on the visit. They were all present when the offer was extended by DDV along with most if not all of the assistants1 point -

You need to account for pre and post transfer portal (2021). Prior to the portal and NIL, it took several years to build a team. With the transfer rules today, teams can be build much faster. But you know that. Hurley actually won 2 tourney games before he joined Uconn.1 point -

Sampson didn't trash the program. IU self-reported what today is a non-issue and then fell on its sword to show the NCAA how contrite it was. IU was desperate to maintain a "squeaky clean" reputation, to the absolute detriment of the basketball program. My disdain for Woodson is 100% warranted. He was given the job that he didn't deserve. He was entitled, lazy, petty and protected. He (and Buckner) have earned every bit of my disdain, in spades.1 point -

Not even close. (1) Woodson is the answer to that question. No one wanted him except his buddy Quinn. No one else was remotely interested in him. (2) Davis was given the job to appease the players, but that was a bad move, as well.1 point -

Lamar wouldn’t be. He was a year out of high school before he played a year of Juco, 3 at SHSU and his year at IU. So he’s 6 years out of HS. Alexis probably would have a year. He played 4 straight years after HS,1 point -

cybergates reacted to Stuhoo for a topic
Occam's Razor - the most obvious, logical explanation is usually the correct one. So in this case? The year Dusty was moving up to a big time job Woodson was still at IU. After getting that big time job IU would have been a lateral move at best. The timing just didn't work. Now an NBA job came up, and with a potentially generational player as that franchise's cornerstone. And the NBA is quite simply just a better job than a major college gig, especially with the current chaotic, illogical college situation and for a guy that already reached the mountaintop as a college coach.1 point -

cybergates reacted to Home Jersey for a topic
Refrain from making personal attacks if you wish to continue posting on the board. And yes, May was never intimidated by a "high pressure" job or IU specifically. His ambition is to coach in the NBA and the timing didn't work out for him and IU. IU wasn't a big enough draw for him. Oh well, he's not in the conference anymore. No need to relitigate that process... we are where we are. And May no longer being at UM is good news.1 point -

So much for all the clowns who said Dusty was never coming here because he didn’t want to be in the spotlight or deal with the high pressure type schools. Pretty sure going to coach the Mavericks is the definition of a high pressure situation.1 point
