Through random circumstance last week I spoke with two people who have interacted quite a bit with Darian. They aren't really IU fans, but their jobs cause them to cross paths quite a bit with IU. They couldn't have been more positive and they were highly impressed with him. Very good stuff. The more I hear the more confidence I get in what he's doing, including on things like the staff.

I am in Delhi, India at the IU Gateway Office with a delegation of IU reps, and found this gem of a photo hanging on the wall.

It was my impression Brian, Kenya and Ya did their jobs on the recruiting trail but just didn't have the support from the self proclaimed King to close the recruitments.

Good old Stevens Industries! Visited that plant several times. Edited to add: Grew up in Mooresville, Indiana. Lived in the Haute since 1996. Terre Haute isn't as bad as some make it out to be. I stayed in Lincoln, Nebraska, for work for 2 years. Norman, Oklahoma, for a year, and Cody, Wyoming, for a 7-month project. My goal when I retire is to move to Englewood, Florida.

Woody really did that whole roster a disservice. Not only do they all have to take a pay cut, but the lack of development screwed them for the future. Now they have to try to go out and prove themselves again. I sincerely wish them all the best. This is what happens when administrations take the easy road instead of the correct one. You end up screwing over the very people you supposedly are trying to help.

Braden Smith isn't going to be a happy camper when he's getting smothered by our Taint.

I would go a step further and say that is beneficial. We know you can't play 13 (or 12, or 11....) guys. So having the last 2-3 scholarships for developmental players is great roster building. Obviously the recent transfer portal mania has diminished that model, but doesn't change how you need to construct a roster. If you have 12-13 guys expecting to play meaningful minutes, it's probably gonna be an issue and several are gonna bolt after the season anyway. If you have a few guys that are working to earn minutes in the future? Positive in a number of ways. Might to be tough to implement that in year 1 that requires an entire new team, but should be the goal.

Curtis almost makes too much sense to not happen. Baker-Mazara absolutely needs to not happen.

That is definitely not an either/or. One player is a top tier starter quality big, and the other is pretty developmental.

I wonder about the big thing. We’re seeing an athletic, quick, rebounding big guard -wing offense put together with top 20 assist guys. Yes it’s the B1G but do we actually need a traditional rum protector? Not so sure. Really interested to see where DeVries goes with the remaining picks - starting 5 are already on the team

Every kid is different. Mgbako is more talented than many that left and generally succeeded, but in my opinion he has a mental disconnect, both on and off the court that is a bigger obstacle for success than anything that Gunn, Bates, or Banks had to overcome.
