Feel terrible saying this, but I honestly don't even really care about this season. I'm so detached from this roster and coaching staff, all I care about is whatever gets us to a coaching search in March/April.21 points

1 of the truly under-appreciated legends of IU basketball. High School All-American. Mr Basketball at Manual with his twin brother, Tom as well as Trester Award winner. All American at IU. Multiple time NBA All Star. Exemplary representative for the school for basically 60 years. Hell of a run.10 points -

Man..... I'll die on this hill. It's not the What, it's the Why and the How. Of course we all want IU to return to the glory of competing for national championships, but when people say we have unrealistic expectations, I call BS. All I want is a team we can be proud of. I've been prouder to be an IU fan when we've had teams way worse than this. All we want is discipline, connected play, selflessness, hard work and 110% effort from everyone in the program from the Head Ball Coach to lottery picks to the janitor. Talent and NIL be damned.7 points -
I remember literally using some of my vacation days at work to schedule around certain IU basketball games I didn’t want to miss. Now I could have absolutely nothing going on and if a game is on I’m fine with watching something else. I just can’t stand it at all. Couldn’t wait til the season started every year, but now I can’t wait til it ends so I can see if a change is made. This is even way worse than when people wanted Archie out of town.7 points

I see alot of doom and gloomers in here. I am not as convinced as some that Woodson was brought back this year all because of Buckner. I believe they may have been as dumb as we think. I feel they didn't want to fire another coach already and look like they don't know what they are doing lol. I believe they felt Woodson could do good enough to get the fans back on board if they bought enough talent. I mean they did go pretty much all in on that. I feel it worked for the off season as I think with the ranking and the hype the fans were on board. Unfortunately the season started and we fell flat so far. I believe it is that simple. If this continues he will be fired because fan support is gone and the administration looks as terrible as ever. I believe they were dumb enough to attempt this and it hasn't worked. That's my belief Sent from my SM-A326U using Tapatalk5 points -

Archie’s last 2 years he had the tournament cancelled and then in his last year he didn’t get the home court advantage that Assembly Hall creates. He ended up being bad but that’s some tough stuff to over come. Just a weird couple years. His first year he was no where close to the tourney and in his second year lost 12 of 13 games and still was First 4 out and would of made it if they would of beaten Ohio st in B1G tourney. Woody was in first 4 out until he made a mini run and beat Michigan and Illinois in B1G tourney. Still finished second to last team in4 points -

I legit could stomach this season a little bit better if he had even an ounce of humility on this past season's Senior Day. If he said something to the effect of "This season didn't go the way we expected or wanted, but we're gonna keep fighting to get better. This university deserves more. IU fans deserve more. I appreciate all of your support." I would be way more inclined to watch games, and would probably feel a connection to this team at least to the point I don't want the head coach run out of town on the next train. But instead what do we get? An F-U attitude, implying those who question him aren't "true fans", putting forth no effort in recruiting, activating the burner squad on social media, and the business between him and the Hoosier Hysterics coming to light. Hopefully he doesn't get to resign. I want him fired.4 points -
To be honest, he is in a tough position. What other coach has to win conference road games, teach new players their defensive strategy and be burdened with not recruiting HS players? On top of that he has to spend the most NIL money in college basketball on players that he spends no time teaching and yet still find time for wine and stogies. It's a lot to ask of a mere mortal, good thing...4 points

Matt Weaver, the Peegs IU Football beat reporter, said that he expects many of our most notable portal signings, including a quarterback will be announced by the middle of next week. I love that Mendoza visited on the sly. Of his supposed final four options: If he'd chosen UCLA the announcement would have/could have come already It's not Wisconsin - they just got their starter It's apparently not Miami - that's home for him but they're not reported to be a finalist That leaves us or Georgia and I love our chances. If he's coming from a messed up culture at Cal and visiting us with complete inside knowledge on our culture? That's really good.4 points -

Living in Scottsdale, I had the pleasure to sit and talk with Dick several times at his Art Studio. He had a table right outside his shop doors that he would sit at and work on his art. He was a lovely man, that was always friendly and greeted you with a smile on his face. He was also always eager to discuss IU Basketball every time I stopped in. Really sad to hear that he passed. He always commented about how much his stroke had impacted him. Living legend both in IU basketball and Phoenix Lore. RIP Dick.4 points -

Woodson missed the memo. The will to win is not nearly as important as the will to prepare to win.Everyone wants to win but not everyone wants to prepare to win. preparing to win is where the determination that you will win, is made. Once the game or test or project is underway, it is too late to prepare to win. The actual game, test or projetc is just the end of a long process of getting ready, in which the outcome was really determined. So if you want to win, you must want to prepare to win. Once you prepare to win, winning is almost anti climatic." - Bobby Knight Bobby Knight Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk4 points -

In my opinion the issue with Mack is one that happens sometimes at the college level. He doesn’t have NBA level athleticism. A 6-8 high school player with his shooting touch can really be miscalculated until playing against college level athletes. It happens. Being forced to guard high major 3s and 2s does him no favors on that front. My feeling is he would have been used much, much differently at a place like Kansas or UConn. He wouldn’t start, and his only job would be to wait for open looks from three on the wing. He certainly wouldn’t have been asked to play giant ball at the three— and like I mentioned before, I’m guessing it had a huge impact on him choosing IU. Huge minutes at the position he and his family envisioned him— but again, he lacks the athleticism to be a 3 and is at best a small ball minutes 4.3 points -
Honestly, the gap between the Archie Years and Woodson Years is not that far off. Sure Indiana has had some nice lands in the portal and H.S. recruiting, including a couple NCAA appearances. However, the program doesn't feel all that much alive compared to the Archie days.3 points

I am in the same boat. I posted earlier about getting some free tickets. At first, I was like no thanks and then I found out they were in the 76-club section. I had not gotten to see a game there and wanted to see what it was like so I said sure I will go. I was impressed with the section and told my son that they would be wise to do the other side the same way. I thought it was a great way to bring in revenue with businesses using them for games. Back on topic, during the game there was more complaining about the coaching and team than I expected to hear around me..... Fans are just over it at this point.3 points

I said it a while ago but people were really underselling how important getting a quality win and competent performance in the Bahamas was. The B1G is not well regarded this season. 10-10 with zero good non-con wins isn’t getting us in IMO. Then look at the data you’ve provided… Woody has not over performed at any time in this tenure. TJD was a killer, and JHS periodically went unconscious. So expecting 11 or 12+ B1G wins is living in fantasyland. You had to have noticed that stretch starting with @ PU on 1/31. That is a brutal stretch of games in February. Squint and tell me how many wins you see there with how this team has looked… PSU at home? UW on the road? OSU at home? That stretch looks like 2-8 to me, maybe 3-7. I think you’re right this could get a lot uglier.3 points -

I was doing some thinking about the rest of the year last night. The more I thought about it, the more I felt like this season really might go completely off the rails. Thought my bias may be clouding my ideas, so I looked at the NET Rankings and Woody's winning percentage vs. each Quad. My back of the napkin math: as it stands today - we have 13 Q1 games, 3 Q2 games, 4 Q3 games left. As it stands today there are 6 games that could be Q1/Q2 (Michigan, Purdue, PSU, OSU) or Q2/Q3 (Rutgers, at Washington). Woody has a 31% winning pct vs Q1, 64% vs Q2, and 89% vs Q3. That would be good for 10 more wins. That'd put us at 18-13 overall. I have a hard time seeing us finishing better than 21-10 absolute best case. 18-13 or worse more likely IMO.3 points -

So, I had the pleasure of going to a home game this year and was seated in the 76-club area. Very nice by the way. While there I talked with a former player on many topics. One being the current coach. Not good.... He confirmed that he is protected by the Board (Buckner and one or two others) and that if you go against him (Woodson), you are out. Fife and Matta were in place before Woodson was hired, and he did not like that at all and you see where they ended up. Looking back, I don' t remember who was in place before whom but I thought Woodson was announced before Fife or Matta so assumed he hired them. He also confirmed that Dolson had a different path, and it was shot down. He did not say who that was but said it was a homerun. He mentioned that Dusty May is not off the table once Buckner is out. Said the buyout is low on purpose. Other former players are no longer welcome around the team (see Brian Evans comments). I was really in shock with all he shared with me. How can the IU program allow this to happen? How can the boosters allow this. The program has to be bigger than one or two people. So sad. Take it for what it's worth. Which may not be much lol.3 points -
