In 2024 IU is 348th out of 364 teams in 3pt rate(amount of 3s taken). Percentage is actually top 100 just need to actually shoot more 3s. Knife to a gun fight. Playing this style means your team basically has to play perfect from inside the arc. When you can’t get high school kids that are shooters to come to your program or transfer portal kids that are known shooters a staff might look at being 346th as the problem. Shooter after Shooter has looked elsewhere. Looking forward to a new coaching staff that prioritizes playing modern basketball

Like last year IU brings a knife to a gunfight. The offensive and defensive philosophy that the staff continues to run with just isn’t a good fit in 2024-25. Lucky for them they will get away with it in the B1G for the most part. If they were in the SEC they would have 0 chance with the way they play. Pretty sure I saw they are in the 340s in attempted 3s a game. Too many holes schematically on both sides of the ball to be a serious title contender. Moser a college basketball lifer got a lot flack the last couple years for his start at Oklahoma but the guy can coach and that’s a nice feather in the cap to win Atlantis

Really a shame because I’d love to see what this roster looks like under different leadership. watching Purdue be consistently good to great no matter who is on the roster is getting old.

Just to add to this. I work with Billionaires associated with Duke and UNC. These people are the most pettiest people on the planet. Whoever compared IU basketball to Nebraska football is accurate in many ways. I remember when Raiola was the second coming over the summer just like we had a second 5 that could compete for the top half of the Big Ten. Did we hang our offseason championship banner yet? They lost two very close games and then lost the third game yes. We're not the same. We have the same problems for 4 years. I fear if we played uconn this weekend we lose by 20 plus. I bet on them first 2 games and watched the games we aren't at that level. We won today and that is better than losing. We had good offense today but defense sucked. We are in trouble. I believe I was the OP you're referring to? As you mentioned, Crean had many flaws but he lived and breathed basketball as a coach. I have little doubt of Crean's ability to see flaws with others while not being able to implement them as a coach.

I am way behind on this thread (thank god) but can you imagine Cigs making this comment/excuse? Especially when Louisville has a new coach and a completely new team? I think there's no chance of a change before season's end... but man... it's gonna get u-g-l-y.

I think the only positive so far this season is Mgbakos shooting. He's horrid really everywhere else imaginable but he's sitting 54.5% from the field, 51.6% from 3 and 91.3% from the free throw line.
