Who fills the last scholarship?

In my post this morning, I linked the Dayton Daily News story. Here: Mike Sharavjamts, former Dayton Flyers guard, withdraws from NBA Draft (daytondailynews.com) But it subsequently went poof. I read the whole article online. Once yesterday and once today. But now it is protected and there is a paywall for me. In case that it goes away again...or you cannot access it... Just search online for Dayton Daily News sports. Site will display more current stuff. But the next line starts a list of linked articles for previous days. In the article, it has one video of Sharavjamts. As a 6' 8" guard/forward he made the A-10 all-rookie team. He played in 32 of 34 games and averaged 23 minutes per game, 5.6 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.6 assists pg, 39% 68% 31.5%. Scouting report: NBA Draft Scouting Report: Dayton's Mike Sharavjamts - NBA Draft Digest - Latest Draft News and Prospect Rankings (si.com) This says that he walks on water: "Sharavjamts possesses a vast passing repertoire. He does all the simple things expected of a point forward, such as running the point in transition and making the right plays on drives with effective drive-and-kick passes, but also adds an advanced level of passing which is rare for a player of his size." There is much more in the SI article on the 6' 8 3/4" young player. As an aside, he is the first Mondovian to play D1. Reports have him as being born in Phoenix AZ. His father is...apparently...very active in promoting his son. He is about 22 years old. He attended International Sports Academy as a high school senior. He is thin and needs big-time conditioning and weight training to compete with the best players. From the Athletic: " He’s a boom-or-bust player that has real defensive deficiencies right now, and I’d recommend that he only goes to uptempo, well-spaced offensive situations that allow him to get the most out of his skill level. Still, he’s worth ranking because the upside if he gets into the right environment is very real."3 points -

I talked about the Torvik formulas in a separate thread (I believe the transfer portal one), but basically it tends to over rate previous playing time in calculating expected minutes for the following year. This results in Sparks being projected to play more minutes than Reneau even though Reneau is projected to have better efficiency ratings. When Sharavajamts is added to IU's roster, it gives him about 25 minutes per game -- a number that I don't think is realistic. So it ends up taking minutes away from players who Torvik actually has rated with better efficiency ratings. FWIW, Torvik projects him to only get 12 minutes per game at Nebraska -- and it's not because of Nebraska's talent (they are ranked 45 currently in Torvik) but rather that they acquired and returned players who played more minutes than MS did last season. I love the Torvik rostercast, but it's limited.3 points -

Immediate opening? Most expect Cupps to be a 3 year starter at PG once X is gone. With that said, his skillset would allow him to play a combo guard so even if we bring a top 3 PG who starts, Cupps would still see a lot of PT.2 points -

GREAT NEWS….Why not til 2035? Hope the happiness continues and content in 2027 and extended to 2035…..I interpret it as a modification to current contract pertaining to IU Ladies basketball program success. It can always be modified in future. Glass, Dolson, President of university and IU has been very supportive of T.Moren and IU Ladies basketball program….Good examples are basketball trips and NIT home games.1 point -

Yep. Sharajamts withdrew from the NBA draft consideration on Wednesday. It was online and posted here Thursday. Mike Sharavjamts, former Dayton Flyers guard, withdraws from NBA Draft (daytondailynews.com) Probably, some knew Wednesday. I didn't. I'm slow... Didn't see it posted here. But I was remodeling a bathroom until late. She who must be obeyed is happy. I am happy. So, I guess that H1984 may have additional information that was also previously reported here. Guess that Sharajamts doesn't fit at IU? Is that what H1984 means?1 point -

I read this on another board, but probably the reason San Francisco is in the mix is the large Mongolian community there. Five thousand people originally from Mongolia live in California and 60% of that population resides in the San Franciso Bay Area cities of Oakland and San Leandro. Apparently this area has become a popular center for Mongolian immigrants in the past twenty years.1 point -
Exactly! They will have major matchup problems with smaller teams and Edey will get his points but athletic and quicker teams will exploit Edey and company. I think we could be one of those teams. The Purdue style of basketball is going away like the dinosaurs did probably sooner than later1 point

FWIW: Torvik predicts him to a have big jump efficiency next year. Using their numbers (they project Sharavjamts to get 25 minutes per game at IU, a number I don't see happening), he would shoot 43/35/76 and average roughly 8 points, 2 boards, and 3 assists. It's close to what the translated projections I have from their numbers for Galloway would be -- 27 mpg, 6.7 points, 3.6 reb, 2.6 assists, shotting 46/45/63. Personally, I would cautiously project him at half the time Torvik does. There would be some use in a bench playing getting 12.5 mpg, 4 points, a board and an assist or two.1 point -

FAU may be in the top five....but they really aren't top five regardless of the final four run. It's going to be really difficult to catch lightning in a bottom twice. Heck, if Memphis hadn't turned the ball over with 5 seconds left FAU wouldn't have made it out of the first round. That's not meant to take anything away from the great job Dusty May did, just they are ripe for regression.1 point -
