  2. Let's see if you have that same feeling by October 15th. If he's not a Hoosier by the end of October than let's start to worry.

  6. Louisville insider Demling from their 247 board removed Ramsey from their Big Board and said he doesn’t think there is any chance he ends up at Louisville. Texas Tech is the leader according to some other scouts. Let’s hope he is impressed with HH. Please leave the other junk out of the recruiting threads. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  7. I think if he offers top Tier Hoosiers, then it makes them seem like an attractive option for mid-tier hoosiers, like Nunge, and the 10th best Hoosier is better than the 5th best Iowan, usually.

  8. I think it’s an OK class. 2/3 of their commits we didn’t offer in our own backyard. Personally, I would be rather upset if that was our class as of today. It’s not one that you win championships with

  11. Definitely not Newman over Ramsey for me. Speaking of which, lets get Ramsey to guard Newman. Newman won't be able to breathe. This is the type of class that makes Purdue fans cocky. To them it's a Homerun. It's certainly a solid class, but we are also certainly aiming much higher. Let's compare notes in 2 months. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

  12. Personally I would say I disagree and would say from my perspective it is for both the recruit and the paying fan. It’s a balancing act but without the fans you can’t recruit. Without the recruit there are no fans. Extremes on either side imo are wrong. It’s a balancing act. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  13. A 19 year old might not know when it comes to a major the in's and out's of prerequisites and requirements, electives and such, so advisers help a kid towards a proper path. But when you sit in a sham class with no tests, no papers, no grades, you know it's a sham. When my adviser chose fencing for me, and showed my class schedule, that was my last trip to an academic adviser

  17. You said what I was clumsily trying to say. I'm not saying it's not a recruiting tool, but I most definitely am saying it should not be geared only toward the recruits. What I was trying to say is that this is not the #1 recruiting tool we have (that would be visits to IU/from coaches). Have a light show, have entertainment (Lord know it would be better than Greenberg droning on). Hoosierfan2017 has some beef with whatever I post. I appreciate mdn saying it better than I could!

  18. His last official visit is at MSU the weekend of October 5th/6th. With all of the time that Izzo has spent, that visit seems very likely to happen no matter how well Hoosier Hysteria goes. After that, it seems like the inside scoop is that he and his family will sit down and sort things out for a potential announcement by the end of that week.

  20. I haven’t seen anyone say they oppose flashy. I have only seen people say they oppose dropping the scrimmage. So I don’t know what you are talking about on this. The scrimmage is what pulls in the fans. This event is for recruits. Part of recruiting to IU is showing how crazy our fans are and this being a basketball state. Hard to say that in front of 1k fans when no scrimmage is played. Hard to get player name chants with a thousand fans at most. That’s what I feel most are arguing against. 21. The age thing always cracks me up. At 19 they don't know what they're doing but at 20 they do! I've met plenty of 19 year olds that have their stuff together and a plan in place for a better future. I've also met older individuals that don't have a clue. The recruits have choices. If they don't like the system they can choose a different avenue just like if you don't like your line of work you can choose to work somewhere else. To say players aren't aware of the current environment is weak. Could they be paid more? Sure, but they're already making above the average income in the US. On topic, if Jahmius decides to attend IU I'm sure he'll find all the advisors, managers, trainers, coaches, professors, etc. working to make him a better student and athlete. 23. We have a proven, undersized big and a lot of potential. IF Romeo lives up to the hype, Smith has a breakout season, our role players play their role, and, most importantly, a PG steps up to lead the team we can be a dangerous team. That's a lot of ifs. Our floor should be a top 25 team that makes it easily into the tourney. I'm still curious what "recruits" want to see out of midnight madness though. Are there any teams that just have a concert and intros? Maybe we could get Ice Cube and the 3-3 league to perform... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  28. I heard Jahmius Ramsey is a victim of an antiquated amateur sports organization that pays everyone but the underprivileged and woefully disorganized class of persons providing the talent and won't receive his fair compensation through legitimate means, if at all.

  29. So what you're telling me here is that he literally had no other choice but to enroll in sham classes? Things must have really changed a lot in the 3 year difference between the time he and I went to college. I distinctly remember being able to choose my own major. He must've been absolutely distraught when he found out he was being forced into a program where he didn't have to go to class or do any homework for those passing grades. Lord knows he shouldn't have to bear any semblance of personal responsibility.

  30. Why don't we keep high school going another 7 years and then start college at 25, if that's the case? I'm not so sure it's brain development, or mounting evidence that your decisions were wrong, for people to "grow up". If you default on your credit card at 18, your next credit card you might use a little more responsibly, even if you're only 22 when you get it.

  31. "I thought it was a part of the college experience, just like watching it on a movie from 'He Got Game' or 'Blue Chips,'" McCants said. "... when you get to college, you don't go to class, you don't do nothing, you just show up and play. That's exactly how it was, you know, and I think that was the tradition of college basketball, or college, period, any sport. You're not there to get an education, though they tell you that." Yup, sounds like those advisers really pulled the wool over his eyes...

  36. 19 years old are old enough to make their own decisions. If they are mature enough to enlist in the army then they are mature enough to figure out if sham classes are helping them. They went along with it because it was easy and kept them eligible to play basketball. Acting like they have no culpability in this and are clueless is akin to people trying to blame their woes on everyone but themselves. Every college student makes decisions that will likely effect them for the rest of their lives just by picking their major.

  37. I forgot to mention this. A few weekends back my brother and I kicked off our annual Baseball Weekend tradition. We flew into Minneapolis and caught the Twins vs Royals game. Drove down to Milwaukee and saw the Brewers vs Giants and then drove down to Chicago and saw the White Sox vs Angels. Target Field in Minneapolis is really nice. It's a smaller stadium and has a homely feel to it. I really enjoyed it. There is a ton of construction downtown but getting to the stadium was simple. Though we didn't utilize it, they have a nice light rail system running from the airport into downtown. For never being there before, I left impressed with the city and the stadium. Miller Field was the first stadium I'd ever been in with a retractable roof. It was odd to watch a game in basically a cube with out a top. One thing is for certain, Brewer's fans tailgate like no other. They showed up in force. We arrived about an hour before the game and there were tailgaters everywhere. It was like a football tailgate at a baseball game. Great fans. They knew when to get loud without the annoying prompt from the screens. We killed time in the afternoon by visiting the Harley Davidson museum. I'm not a HD guy, but I do love motorcycles. It's also worth the stop if you have the time. Chicago. What can I say? It's Chicago. The parking was good. It was easy to get in/out. The food is outrageously expensive. $6 for a 20oz pop. Outlandish. $10 for a beer. Most expensive place of the three. We visited the "Married with Children" fountain and the "Blob" before the game. Nothing terribly exciting. I had been to newer 'Comiskey' before (I can't remember the corp sponsor...Gaurantee something or another) but marked off Minny and Milwaukee from the list. I'm now at 13 active stadiums and 18 overall. Next year we're planning a trip to California. Dodger's, Padres, and Angel's. Already looking forward to that trip.

  41. I plan on going to the event. he past few times it has been hard due to scheduling conflicts. The last time I went was 2012 (#1 preseason team.) We had an awesome time! Waiting in line wasn't too bad at all. Tom Crean came out and interacted with the crowd. Would love to see the team and some of the recruits!

  42. I understand what some of you are saying about the recruits wanting to be "wow'd", but in my opinion, this event is not for the recruits. This is an opportunity for the community and fans to see their teams (yep, women's too) for the first time. It's a chance to be in Assembly Hall, to witness the tradition and magic of IU basketball. Any recruit that cannot appreciate the tradition and community importance of IU most likely would not fit in here anyway. It's not like this is the only time a recruit will see what IU is about (coaching, chemistry, academics, etc.), as any serious recruit will take official/unofficial visits here. The culture of IU is not one of flashy presentation, and we don't do that at basketball games. Not sure why a recruit, who is here to get an education and play basketball, would not rather have an opportunity to see players on the floor, and a rabid fanbase going nuts for them.

  45. You are like the 3rd person I’ve see mention Smith maybe jumping to the NBA. While crazier things have happened it would take a lot for that to happen: he is a tweener: just not sure what position he would play in the NBA with his current skill set. I don’t see him being able to guard 4s ins the nba like OG could and I don’t see him being able to stay in front of 3s right now. Maybe he gets there but it would take an Oladipo and then some type jump Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
