Raleigh News & Observer not impressed with Bill Belichick-

https://www.newsobserver.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/luke-decock/article312209870.html

I don't understand the point of this opinion piece. Is he mad at the state of North Carolina? The writer comes off as a petulant child. Seriously, what's the point of this write up? Someone, please explain it to me.

Article is pretty self explanatory to me.  The author isn't just some hack.

Please explain it to me than, thanks.

That Belichick is tarnishing his own legacy because his hiring is a failure.  That everyone is laughing at the University for the hiring.  That this fiasco isn't that far removed from the fake classes scandal.  How much money was spent to bring the players in.  That Belichick is a smart grifter.

Not sure how Michigan-Maryland or Oregon-Penn State, among others are "rivalries" but I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it either.

Yeah, definitely not all historic rivalries but the conference is expanding and that stuff will come with time. If Venmo wants to pay to help that along, seems sensible to me.

Oregon-Penn State played in the B10 title game last year, I could definitely see that becoming one. Michigan-Maryland not so much, but I assume the "rivalry" matchups will sort themselves out as time goes on with this larger national conference.

I don't see the issue tbh

Agree, no issue, just funny to see the this list put together to do a sponsorship with Venmo.

As far as I am concerned, they can call anyone our rival if they send a check…

Yeah, I didn't get any of that out of it. After a grand total of... 4 games the writer goes off on the coach for what? Being 2-2? Losing by big margins? Having a girlfriend that finds 70+ year old men attractive?

His legacy? Prior to Tom Brady, his head coaching career record was 41-55 .427. After Tom Brady, his head coaching record, including UNC, is 31-40 .436. His total record without Tom Brady on his roster is a grand total of 72-95 .431. I'd say without a certain player he doesn't really have a legacy to tarnish. Who's really laughing? The country or just the impatient keyboard warriors wanting instant gratification after 4 games into a 1st year coach with a complete overhaul of a roster along with the way the program used to run things? What fiasco? It's 4 games into his 1st season. How much money is spent on every player at every P4 school?

I'd fully understand if this writer wanted to criticize the university because they hired a below average coach without a certain player on his roster. But personally, I still wouldn't criticize the university this early. It's only 4 games into this experiment.

It's a hit piece and the guy writing it comes of as ****** bag with some sort of personal vendetta. To what exactly, I'm not sure. At least that's what I got of the the column. But that's just me.

Normally I’d say that’s true. But dude is getting paid more than coach cig.  Expectations should be sky high and failure to achieve them should be called out

You are entitled to your opinion.  I just don't agree with it.

Well……#8 FSU goes down at UVA in overtime (in regulation FSU scored on 4th and 11 to force the OT).

Has zero to do with our game vs Iowa but for some nonsensical reason it makes me nervous about our trip to Iowa.

Conference road games are usually tough. They're supposed to be tough. We would do well to remember that tomorrow when it's halftime and we're not up 28-3.
