Braden Smith sucks man. He flat out sucks. I’m already seeing the TJ McConnell comps. I don’t even like TJ and he’s orders of magnitude better than this dips**t.

This franchise drives me insane sometimes.

Because he, like TJ, is … pale. His other comps are Aaron Craft, Brian Scalabrine, Jordan Hulls, and Chet Holmgren.

The rest of the contenders doing everything they can to get bigger and stronger and the Pacers counter by drafting the literally smallest dude at the combine.

I would pay peak WWE PPV prices to watch him try to guard Tyrese. Hell, I’d pay them to watch him try to guard TJ.

I doubt Smith ever plays any meaningful minutes in the NBA. This just seems like some weird attempt by the Pacers to salvage not having a pick in the draft while placating to the Purdue subset of the fanbase.

You may just be in luck….Do they sell tickets to practice?

11 year B1G veteran Bruce Thornton goes to the Knicks and is by far not the youngest guy on the roster. And...getting traded to Houston.

The NBA has to do something with making these trades for draft picks go through right away like the NFL. 31 picks so far and I think 18 of them aren't playing a second for the team they're wearing the cap of.

The NFL league year and FA starts before the draft while the NBA league year and FA is after the draft.  I take it that the trades aren't official will the league year starts on July 1.  That is the only explanation that makes sense to me.

I know it'd push back the Summer League, but have the NBA draft the night after the MLB all star game. No competition at all. If the Finals went 7, the Spurs or Knicks would've had to wait after the draft for their parade since the timing was so tight.

Trading Kam Jones and 2 second round picks and cash for Braden Smith is incredibly stupid. What are the Pacers thinking??

Man…..  They should have known the NBA was going to screw them in the lottery too.  Not sure what they could have done about it, but Dybantsa, or Boozer on this roster woulda been really nice. Mathurin was a grossly underappreciated player. He’s gonna be really successful.  I hate everything that’s happened with the team since Hali went down.

That all being said, they should be competive this season.

To be fair Kam Jones clearly isn't NBA caliber and the 2 picks are just swaps which I doubt even get used. So we basically just swapped one point guard that didn't work out for another. Best case scenario he eventually becomes the successor to TJM. Worst case scenario he is a fun guy to have on the Boom and run that offense.

They actually signed him to a 2 way deal so getting rid of Kam Jones who was using a roster spot and making more money was a win altogether.
